This beautiful coyote was hunting for voles and mice along the road. We were headed to Creede, Colorado for the day on a girl's trip. We stopped to take photos, and it just ignored us. This little ground squirrel was very busily gathering nesting material for the winter. Glad he took the time to pose for me!

This little Allen's hummingbird was busy defending a feeder in my yard several years ago. Hummingbirds are ounce for ounce one of the most vicious birds on the planet. They will brutally attack each other if they feel their food supply is in danger. We went to the property to check on things after all of the rain. And to just enjoy the peace and quiet for a while. Got out of the truck, and there were hundreds of these little toads! Google says American toad, so I guess we'll go with that. This little one was about the size of my pinky fingernail. So tiny!!!

Same huge moose from a couple of days ago. He was showing off for the ladies, since it was the rut. He had been raking his antlers through the grass so he could decorate himself. This gigantic Shiras moose was grazing along the lake at about 7:00 am. The sun was just coming up over the ridge on the far side of the lake. The light was perfect, the moment was perfect, and the shot was pretty great, too. My first full antlered Shiras and he was magnificent! We got to spend a couple of hours just hanging out with him and four cows and a baby. It was a morning I will never forget. The big guy and one of his ladies. He was sniffing the air to see if she was ready to breed. Watching the interactions of these huge animals was incredible!

This one is called The Challenge. Same elk again. We were in the truck, because this guy was getting agitated with the two young spike bulls that were trying to get too close to his ladies.
