At the closing event of at The Wedge, I still had too many rolls of film left to be shot. As a way to finish off an inspiring & impactful (pun somewhat intended) gathering, I wanted to get portraits of some of the volunteers, organizers, panelists & friends made throughout the events of the long weekend there at the Wedge.
I chose to shoot these portraits on film for 3 reasons:
1: To capture a semi candid portrait of some of the organizers on a physical medium.
2: Take the negatives back to my darkroom to practice enlarging.
3: Send the prints out as a thank you to those I got to exchange some similarities with because of skating.
At skate events, participants tend to walk away with memories and/or product but I wanted to do something that gave back to the organizers that did so much for this community of aging adolescents. Slow Impact would not have happened last year & this if it werenโt for the dedicated hard work of & at , , & many, many more. In the coming weeks, I will be in my darkroom making prints to be sent out to those pictured along with the scanned negative for digital consumption.
