When I first took this image in Costa Rica in 2005, I thought I was capturing an image of a moth. It turns out it's a Giant Owl Butterfly. This is just one of my images in my exhibit up this month at The Gallery on Valley in Scottsville. If you have a chance check out the show this weekend. The Gallery is open tomorrow and Friday from 12 to 4, Saturday 10 to 4 and Sunday 12 to 4.

This close-up photograph presents a translucent butterfly poised on the serrated edge of a broad leaf. Pale greens and warm browns form subtle patterns across its wings, the fine veins and scalloped margins revealed by gentle backlighting. A soft, out-of-focus green backdrop creates sweeping bands of light that isolate the insect and heighten its stillness. A refined, natural accent that makes a calm addition to

I was so busy talking to everyone last night I forgot to take some photos of the event. I would like to thank everyone who came out for the Opening Receptition of my exhibit. Even throught we had heavy rain, we had a great crowd...the gallery told me one of the largest crowds yet. Remember the show is up through Sept.27th.
