That feeling when you’re swinging full speed into Christmas and you know there are cookies waiting on the other side. Pure joy. My favorite will always be my Nana’s cashew drop cookies, and I’ll be baking a batch this weekend for our cookie fellowship at church on Sunday.

Sometimes kids have their own agenda during a photo session. One minute they are smiling, the next they are absolutely not interested. And that is perfectly fine.

My approach is to pivot. If standing still is not working, we walk. If posed smiles feel forced, we play. If they need a break, we take one. Kids lead the energy and I simply redirect it into something beautiful and real.

Photos do not have to be perfect to be meaningful. They just have to be honest. And that is where the magic is.

Years ago I connected with Kendra in a photography education group, and when she planned a trip to Orange Beach we set up a little session while she was here.

She runs a thriving photography business and has always been so kind and encouraging from afar. She is one of those people who shows up, cheers others on, and makes the industry feel a little lighter.

So fun looking back at this day on the beach and remembering how small connections can lead to really great moments.
