This is Sarah. She has lived in several places around the country, and eventually landed in Seattle - where she loves the natural beauty. One of the things she loves most about the house she lives in is the legacy that she inherited. Several previous owners planted fruits and edible plants over time, so she gets to enjoy the bounty from those efforts every year. This sweet surprise has inspired Sarah to learn more about gardening and taking care of the plants she lives with, and she has proudly planted more for future owners to enjoy.

Plants may be new to Sarah, but helping people grow and thrive has always been a major part of her work. She is a pelvic health physical therapist, focused on helping people deal with issues that are very common, but rarely talked about. Her goal is to make these topics more normal and to help people understand that they don’t have to live with discomfort or pain in silence.

Linzhi is a young woman with lots of interests. She plays tennis, she’s part of her high school cross country team, she’s in orchestra, and she sings in the Seattle Girls Choir. She also is in the Technology Student Association (TSA). One of her TSA projects was for the fashion design category, for which part of the garment had to be 3D printed. Her team designed a 3D-printed spine that was incorporated into the back of the piece. Linzhi wants to study engineering or architecture when she finishes high school. She joined this project because she thought getting Cornered would be funny and interesting. I think she’s right!

Susana Reyes is the Superintendent of the Shoreline School District. Born in Mexico City, she and her family came to Wapato, Washington when she was a child. Susana was encouraged and inspired by her teachers there, so he worked hard in school and pursued her college education. She returned and became a teacher in Wapato, happy for the chance to give back to her community. Eventually she went on to be assistant superintendent for multiple school districts in Washington, and finally found her way to Shoreline. Dr. Reyes has been a fabulous addition to the Shoreline community - she is full of vision and optimism, working within a challenging system to give all of the families and children in Shoreline the best possible educational experience.
