The Magellanic woodpecker is one of the rare woodpeckers where I think the female has the more striking plumage! Still, the male is quite an impressive himself, with that solid crimson head and crest. So thrilled we got to spend so much time watching these guys!

American Kestrel - a female holding steady in incredibly high wind. Though the whole fence was rocking in the gusts, just her head was still.

This is one of the birds that made me fall in love with birding and wildlife photography. I love these birds so much I named one of my dogs after them. And yet, it took travelling to Chile to get a halfway decent portrait shot of one 😅
