I started this whole career shooting concerts in the ’90s. There was no photo pit. I got there early, got up front, and stayed there. My pelvis crushed against the stage, my bowling bag turned camera bag between my feet, loading film by feel and muscle memory with one elbow out in a protective stance while the crowd rocked in every direction.
That’s where I learned to see. That’s where I fell hard for photography.
At nearly 50 now, it feels pretty fun to go back and remember where it all began.
