Rain in Japan hits differently at night.

Neon signs bleeding into wet pavement, empty streets in Tokyo reflecting every light source back at you like a mirror. This is the kind of cinematic street photography scene you only get when everyone else goes inside. Shot low to let the reflections carry the whole frame.

Did this feel like a movie scene to you?

This is what it actually takes to photograph Chureito Pagoda during cherry blossom season in Japan.

Packed shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of photographers from around the world, everyone waiting for the same light, the same moment, the same shot of Mount Fuji rising behind the pagoda. And then the crowd disappears and all you see is this. Worth every second of the wait.

Have you ever fought a crowd for a photo and walked away with something you’d never delete?
