WORK WITH A PHOTOG WHO PLANS FOR THE UNEXPECTED

So much of elopememts is building in time for unexpected experiences in nature. A traditional photographer will just focus on the photos and not let you enjoy this. I'm a photographer who specifically invites you to sit down and enjoy the view so you experience this as much as get photos of it. AND my timeliness reflect this! For me your experience matters just as much as the photos!

If you feel rushed, you'll look back on your photos with that feeling. But if you sat and listened to loons and then you saw a photo of this you'd be like omg I remember that, that was so cool!

I put a lot of times and care into every season no matter how long is booked with me!

I personally believe every couple who gets married should have a wedding album of some sort! ive wanted to do this for a while and I found a vendor im absolutely amazed by. I design in a storytelling way so my couples get to be literally transported back into their day. UGH LOVE.

I had the big wedding so you don't have to.

When I got married, I was in a place where I wasn't fully in tune with who I was, what was important, and what I needed.

I was in the appeasing space of this is what you're supposed to do.

Looking back- there was plenty of happy moments but it was not the celebration I would have planned for myself. I was a ball of anxiety and I cared more about the details than enjoying it for myself. I let myself get overstepped to make situatuons go away. I got sick the night of my wedding because I was way too stressed and the alcohol hit me hard.

What I really wanted and honestly what I deserve reflecting on it, was the space to be myself and celebrate without others inserting themselves. I wanted time with my partner.

Weddings are joyous occasions and are lovely for some people! But if you're any sort of introverted or a people pleaser and you have any thought of "eloping just sounds nicer", well then do it!

Plenty of my couples do a small unique celebration so they can enjoy it and then have a larger celebration later. But they walk away with time and an experience that was just for them.

I hope if you see this, you can make the best decision for yourself!

Sometimes the best photographers have a little brain spice and can make taking pictures on your elopement day a fun experience.

I dance, I say strange things, but the best thing is my couples are aligned with me as a person, so we have the best time!

When you photograph an elopement during season, its bound to provide some vibes.

From the gorgeous fall colors of the rainforest to the clouds hanging in the mountains, this day was every bit as special as S & L planned! They wanted alone time and time to spend with their family and friends, and I really think we achieved it and more!

They started their morning off getting ready with their closest family at a gorgeous Airbnb before taking a moment to write their vows - time when they get to slow down and really think about the words they are going to say to their partner later.

Before a larger ceremony with their closest family and friends, we found a quiet moment under the dripping moss and to say their private vows. Their family and friends then met them on the beach. I witnessed my first ever ring warming where the rings were passed around to the guests and the guest gave their happy thoughts to the rings themselves before the couple paced them on their fingers. And then they celebrated with a cider cheers!

Then, it was time alllllll for them. We went out exploring! Through the colorful rainforest with the fall leaves on the ground, to the moody beaches that resemble La Push, extending until it got dark. There was so much laughter and love between S & L! As it became dark, I asked them to pick their favorite view and talk about where they think they will be in 10 years as a way to round out our day.

Not pictured - we then went to a brewery for a pizza party where their family gave toasts to celebrate the happy couple!

Your elopement can be whatever you want it to be! And this day brought all of the special moments both S & L wanted!!

Who doesn't love a beautiful proposal??

A reached out to me late this summer to capture his proposal to A. He had fallen in love with the PNW on a recent trip and knew it was the spot he needed to propose.

So how did we make it happen? We found a spot that would be relatively easy to find each other with an amazing view of Mount Rainier (Tahoma). He wanted me to be a photographer, taking photos of the scenery and ask them if I could take a couple of photos.

So here's how we did it! He paused next to me and asked A if they could take a selfie there. Her reaction? "Here? ok" (I did the same thing to my partner.) I popped in and asked if they wanted me to take a picture for them. Once we got the phone photo completed, I jumped in with my white lie! I was an amateur photographer who does not get to take photos at this park very often and would love just a couple of photos of a couple in the space, and then they could be on their way!

They said "of course, that's awesome!" and I put them into a couple of poses, with my main focus of getting them back-to-back. After I got them back to back, I stepped backwards and told them to turn around. AND THE PROPOSAL HAPPENED!

Y'all, it was so sweet. They both were teary-eyed, happy and just so in love! We then let her in on the secret that he had actually hired me and we had a photo session planned for them on the trails. I gave them about 10 min to live in their excitement before we explored as the sun went down.

This was definitely one for the books!!

Please note: When visiting Mount Rainier National Park, ALWAYS STAY ON TRAIL to protect the delicate alpine tundra. All images are taken on the trail.

The summer we eloped.

We wrote our vows cuddled in our treehouse during the first light of the morning. As the morning fog layer rolled in with light rays piercing through it, we saw each other for the first time and danced amongst the trees.

We said our vows with waves lapping against the mountainous shoreline before we ran through the forest and chased waterfalls.

As the sun began to set we drove to the top of the mountain to watch the final rays color the mountains before disappearing. We pulled out our lanterns to light the way home before watching the stars come out.

My rendition of the summer we eloped is what I imagine my couples will write and think about as they look back on their wedding days ❤️ from all the different landscapes, K&M had it all and it was such a beautiful day with love, laughter and tons of exploration.
