Real talk: birthday money must be spent. That's just a fact. Nobody saves birthday money. So in 2007, I found myself at a loss for what to spend mine on. My husband suggested buying a camera. I've always been "creative" but I don't think I would ever have thought to buy a camera myself. How different my life would be if I had not decided it was a good idea. Fast forward a decade and I haven't had a day since that I didn't own a camera. I've gone through many iterations, many lenses, accessories and YouTube videos but I have never lost the initial passion that idea sparked. The decision to do photography professionally was one I was reluctant to get behind. All my friends and family pushed me to do it, told me I was good enough to, but self doubt was always there. Two years ago when I made the move from Glasgow, Scotland to Seattle, Washington I figured, if not now when? And so Jamie Buckley Photography was born. Before long I discovered I loved doing sessions, I was so nervous about meeting the new people, delivering on their expectations but I had nothing to worry about. My many years making coffee while chatting to customers had in fact set me up to be perfect at the job. I'm a laid back person by nature, and my style reflects that. I'm not going to bark orders at you and tell you how to stand (I will gently pose you if necessary though). I want you to have fun and more importantly I want you to LOOK like you're having fun. I want to capture genuine, candid moments of your life.
