Just checking in from the other side of the word to say we’re still alive and doing the damn thing! As of today (19th) we are 3 days from Base Camp. Tuesday and Wednesday will be TOUGH but we’ve risen to every challenge so far. Has it been the most grueling physical challenge of my entire life? Absolutely. But there’s nothing that will stop me getting to Base Camp and achieving this goal.

I do wish the way back down wasn’t just as difficult due to the constant up and downs all day 😂 from Lukla to Base Camp is a 6000ft difference in altitude and we’ve already done almost 12000ft of elevation gain.

Thankfully neither of us is suffering any altitude sickness but we do both have a head cold and what we hope is the infamous “Kambu cough” caused by a combo of the dry air and the dust kicked up by all the hikers and yak.

As of today until November 1st I am officially out of office! We are heading out on the adventure of a lifetime, to trek to Everest Base Camp! 15 days of trekking to a total height of 18,000 feet.

When your engagement session starts on a rope bridge a hundred feet in the air and ends with your running into the ocean 😍 Katelynn and Alex brought me to the wonderful camp where their wedding will be next year and I’m so excited to go back again and see them celebrated by all their friends and family. Also yes this post is Rainier heavy because just look how cute he is!

My favorite moment at my wedding yesterday was a slideshow of photos someone else took. The brides father put together a slideshow of her childhood and it brought the room to a standstill. People laughed, people cried, people gasped, and people cheered. People saw themselves 30 years ago. People saw people who are no longer with us.

And it was all made possible by someone being intentional to not only take a photo, but to print it. Now this of course was a time before digital, but that doesn’t change that print is pretty much the only medium that will never go away. Hard drives fail, website hosting goes out of business, but if you print photos and store them well? Your descendants will be able to look at them in 30 years, maybe at a wedding and also smile, laugh, gasp, and cry.

Got to introduce some new locals to one of my favorite spots in Washington a couple weeks ago! Izzy is a fellow photographer that I know through Instagram and she was looking for some portraits of her fam and I said I gotchu 🫡 so we met up at Rosario Beach and thankfully the weather cooperated and gave us some dramatic sunset light, though partly that was the smoke over on the peninsula 🫣 after doing some with the whole fam we put the pups away and Izzy and Tanner brought the smolder. Can we put that first image on a Nicholas Sparks book cover or what? 🔥

I spent Sunday evening with Jessy, Erica, and star of the show Toro. What a handsome boy! Also it was so weird talking to someone who knows where the tiny town we spent the last two winters is 🤣

When you have a CELEBRITY show up during your engagement session! Trenton & Geneva got to have some photos taken with one of the famous “trolls” scattered around the PNW before we headed to Ballard for some drinks, record hunting, and table games!
