When we’re trying to help our couples pick where they want to elope, we always like to describe the feeling of each place they’re considering. And eloping at Mount Rainier feels “romantic”. There’s just something about it, the way the mountain rises straight out of the landscape, the softness of the wildflower meadows, the light clouds that tend to swirl in and out of the park, the way sunset fades from orange to pink to purple before the starts start to come out... its just romantic 🥰
We’ve been planning and photographing elopements here since 2017, and after many, many days in this park, we’ve learned so much about how it actually works. How the seasons shift, how the park has changed over the years, how permits and access work, how crowds move, and how the weather and microclimates can be wildly different from one side of the park to the other. All of that knowledge gets woven into the way we plan elopement days, so things feel smooth, intentional, and grounded instead of stressful or rushed.
Wildflower season will always have our hearts. Late July through mid-August feels like Rainier at its most playful, with meadows in full bloom and color everywhere you look. But late summer and early fall are just as special in a quieter, more peaceful way. September in particular feels romantic in a different sense. Fewer people, softer light, hints of fall color, and a calmer energy that lets you really soak it all in.
What keeps us inspired, even after all these years, is that Rainier is never the same twice. The light changes constantly. Clouds drift in and out. Weather moves through quickly. You can turn in a full circle and see completely different landscapes in every direction. Creating here with our couples feels playful, creative, and alive every single time.
And honestly, the very best part will always be watching our couples experience this park for the first time. That quiet awe. That look of wonder. That moment where everything else fades away and it’s just the two of them in this huge, beautiful place ✨
