Tomorrow kicks off the last art show of the summer for me. Flagstaff Art In The Park will run from this Saturday thru Monday at Wheeler Park in downtown Flagstaff (duh). Show hours are Sat, Sun 9:30am to 5pm and 9:30am to 4pm on Labor Day Monday. Come check out the show for lots of incredible art, food and live entertainment. I'll be in my usual spot near the intersection of Birch Ave and Humphreys St (northeast corner of the park). Stop by and say hi and check out my wall hanging offerings.

I got pretty stoked when I arrived at this location just in time for a storm to be moving behind the scene. Adding to it was a break in the clouds to the west, allowing the evening sun to light up the red rocks. I had scouted this composition northwest of Sedona a couple of weeks ago and kept it in my back pocket for just this moment. When the lightning flashed, I was even more excited...at least until I saw where it was in my composition. Being on the edge of the comp was not ideal. Unfortunately, it was the last bolt thrown by this dying storm so that's all I got. Oh well, I still won't complain too much! 😁

I caught another partial rainbow over Sedona's backcountry last night. Rainbows have been appearing quite frequently this summer.

About a week ago, I posted a last light image of a collapsing thunderhead over Cathedral Rock. Today's post shows what it looked light shortly after sunset when the thunderhead lit up with bright orange/yellow colors. The sky was also lit up behind me which yielded some amazingly rich colors on the red rocks. It was an awesome evening, for sure!

Lightning strikes Sedona's Munds Mountain, not once, but twice simultaneously on this crazy monsoon day back in July. This was one of many bolts I captured that afternoon. Fortunately, no fires were started thanks to the accompanying rain.

Yesterday's gift from the monsoon came in the form of this partial rainbow that appeared next to Sedona's Steamboat Rock (at least from my vantage point) in the early evening hours. It was brief, but beautiful!

Last night's sunset was another beauty. I captured this while hiking around the Posse Grounds trail system in West Sedona. This is looking towards Munds Mountain.

"Thunderstruck" - Lightning rains down on Munds Mountain in Sedona. In the foreground are one of the Twin Buttes and the Two Nuns. The Chapel Of The Holy Cross is tucked away in the bottom left.

A collapsing thunderhead over Cathedral Rock made for a beautiful sunset last night. It sure made the post processing difficult with its wide dynamic range of light though!
