Hey Upbeat Dance families!

If you're making the trip to Panama City Beach for nationals, I would love to capture some photos of your family while you're there.

I know these dance trips move fast but you're at a beautiful beach, together, and that part is worth remembering too.

Here are the session spots available that week:

Sunrise sessions:
6:30am, 7am, or 7:30am
Tuesday June 2, Wednesday June 3, Friday June 5

Sunset sessions:
7:15pm
Wednesday June 3, Thursday June 4, Friday June 5

Sessions are $175 and include 7 digital images, with the option to add more if you want the whole gallery.

This is Kynslee. 💕

As a dance mom myself, I've watched this girl grow as a performer over the last few years and it has really been something special.

Some of you may have caught my Facebook story this week. If you didn't, I've been busy behind the camera doing recital photos for Upbeat Studio-Benton and Upbeat Dance Studio this week. Recital photos are a ton of fun but they're just a quick glimpse in to what the dancers have been up over the year. Kynslee actually came in for something different entirely. She came in to the studio for a private dance portrait session built completely around her, her style, her strengths, and her story.

This girl isn't just a dancer. She's powerful, emotional and every single movement she makes on that stage tells a story. So I wanted her portraits to do the same. This session was about capturing WHO she is as a dancer. I wanted to document her strength, grace, and love for dance. So we worked together and did just that!

That's what a dance portrait session is all about. It's a time to show off a dancer's strengths and document the art they create through dance.

For the last several years, I have been pouring into two things that mean everything to me...our family's coffee shop, Brewed on Broadway, and my two girls who keep life exciting and funny and a little chaotic in the best way.

But if you know me, you probably know there has always been a camera somewhere nearby. And now, after a season of life pulling me in every direction, I am picking my camera back up. I'm excited to be getting back to something that has always felt like mine.

I specialize in High School Senior Portraits, Dance Portraits and Headshots/Branding Photography here in Southern Illinois, and right now I'm booking for spring, summer, and fall.

Lisa Frank called. She wants her whole vibe back but Audrey says no!

We shot this dreamy, colorful, neon session at Shutterfest and I am still not over it. The colors, the confidence, the full commitment to the bit... Audrey showed UP.

This is what happens when you stop playing it safe and just go for it. The photos become something you actually want to look at forever.

This is Nigel. We shot together at Shutterfest, the photography conference where I get to go a little wild and experiment with looks I do not always get to try in my everyday work. City streets, bold energy, zero rules.

And it got me thinking about all the seniors out there who want something different for their session. Not the same park. Not the same poses. Something that actually feels like them.

Whether you are the senior who wants gritty and bold like this, or you want something a little more classic but still totally you, that is exactly what I show up to create. Every session is built around who you are, not some cookie cutter formula.

We wrapped Zoie's Senior Session with this dramatic, elegant vibe and she made it look effortless.

The look, the lighting, the confidence...it all came together so naturally.

This is what senior sessions should feel like. Not stiff or overly posed, just you showing up, feeling good, and letting me capture it on camera.
