She wanted all of her babies together.

They’re all a little older, and making sure they felt safe and comfortable mattered more than anything else. So instead of trying to photograph them all at once, we took our time and photographed each one individually.

Then everything was brought together afterward to create this.

It’s something I do often, not just for the final image, but for the experience itself. Some horses need space. Some need a slower pace. And sometimes the best way to create a portrait like this is by meeting each one exactly where they’re at.

You’d never know they weren’t standing together the whole time, but they didn’t have to be.

That’s the whole point.
