Minneapolis Minnesota, June 2020.

Every where I turned, I heard the voices of a community in pain, in anguish, in sorrow. But it wasn’t screams or yelling that permeated the air, rather it was the silent but powerful messages held high, painted on wood barriers, posted on poles, and on walls, that echoed loudly through these streets.
Throughout history, words, and art have played an integral part in the furthering of society, in the growth of humanity, in the transitions and paradigm shifts towards a better world.
It brought tears to my eyes. Every sign was backed by a thousand voices from history that fought for racial equity, fairness, and civil rights.
I was filled with pride knowing I was participating in this historical event that will shape our future.
Keep pushing wolfpack!

During my travels across country, one of my most soul distressing experiences was visiting the National Civil Rights Museum. As I traversed room to room, I felt the pain of the spirited voices of history crying out in anger, anguish and sadness, steadily grow heavier and heavier in my heart.
I tried to imagine being part of that era. What it was like to be black in America. I tried to imagine the thick environment of racism, segregation and bias. I tried to imagine the feeling of lost hope when their leader of the fight for equality, Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel.
It was an emotionally draining experience which I knew I can easily escape from just by exiting the museum. But the world we live in does not extend that privilege to my black brothers and sisters. They can not just walk out of their skin and feel safe. They can not live in peace and allow their dreams to flourish. It is disheartening that in this modern day, 60+ years after Rosa Park, MLK and Malcolm X, the fight against racism unfortunately still rages on.
