We are currently fueled by excessive amounts of pumpkin spice lattes, questionable sleep, an unrealistic need for validation, too many open tabs, and software updates at the literal worst times.

So tell us you love the photo. Tell us again. Leave us a review. Comment on Insta. Send the screenshot. Use too many exclamation points. Make it weird (we are artists, we love weird.)

As "busy season" gears up for my fellow Indiana photographers, that means many of my beloved Indiana families are starting to wonder and plan their own family sessions. Some families love capturing their loves in the same place each year- watching them grow through the years and through my lens is really special. Other families love to shake things up, brainstorm new ideas that give mom those gorgeous photos and connections she yearns for, and keeps kids engaged and dad not miserable (iykyk). I can suggest a dozen beautiful parks and areas in the Indy area (we do nature really really well here), but my biggest piece of advice? Stay home. Stay where your family is comfortable. Where the dog can run. Where the kids can show off their favorite toys. The place you brought them home to as babies, that you raised them, love them, teach them.

Nothing is going to have more meaning for you than capturing the people you love, in the place you love most. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be yours.

Maybe my version of “kinda chic” is really just this: your memories of right now should include letting your pictures look like the people you love. Because as it turns out, your life is pretty chic already.

Listen. I’m not saying I know you better than you know yourself... I’m just saying I know how this goes!
You think maybe you’ll skip photos this year. Last year’s still feel recent enough, life is busy, and there is always next year.
But then fall rolls around, the kids look six inches taller, their baby faces are thinning out, and somehow the photos we shot last year don’t feel quite as current as they did a month ago.
A few weeks later, you’re in my inbox saying, “Okay fine, what do you have left?”
I know you. You know you. We both know you’re probably going to schedule the session.
Let’s skip the part where all the good dates are gone.
