Like the country he served he was born on the 4th of July.
He served in the Korean War and received the Bronze Star for his Valor.
He then served for over twenty years on the NYPD with multiple meritous awards.

Today we must keep in mind that Police Officers are never off duty. They are dedicated public servants who are sworn to protect public safety at any time and place that the peace is threatened. It’s not an easy job. The gun they carry is not just a weight on their hip but a weight on their minds and hearts. Everyday they head into dangers unknown, they must see the darkest aspects of our world. They deserve all the help they can get and they deserve our respect and our appreciation.

Happy Birthday America and Happy Birthday Uncle Gene.
