Indian Noodles - Vegetable Semiya (vermicelli) Upma

One of my favorites… been a while since we made this. It’s quite easy to make - heat oil in a pan and temper with mustard and urad dal. Add slit green chilies, curry leaves and vegetables and sauté it well. Add water, and salt and bolting it to boil. Add roasted vermicelli and cook it on a low flame until it’s cooked! Enjoy this delicious dish!

Pidi kozhukattai with tomato chutney

Dinner scene at home tonight. There are innumerable dishes that are made with Rice and lentils combination in the South Indian cuisine. Pidi kozhukattai is one of them. Made by dry grinding washed and dried rice lentil mix along with red chilies. And then boiling it water tempered with coconut oil, mustard, urad dal and some freshly grated coconut until all of it is combined and cooked to 80%. Then this mix is rolled into small balls and steam cooked for 10 mins for this delightful and rustic delicacy.
