I didn’t plan on this lineup. My time-lapse was located 20 minutes away, where I planned on attempting to find a composition and location to use my star tracker, but with too many trees to find Polaris I decided to go back to my car and take a nap while the sky was still cloudy and I didn’t know if it would clear up. Luckily, I heard the water flowing and decided to go check it out, only to find this location with a clear and perfect lineup with the Milky Way. Finding any waterfall with an open southern view in New England is rare, and to blindly stumble upon one feels infinitesimally lucky.

This image is a combination of two three minute images, one with the star tracker for the sky and immediately afterwards a three minute exposure with the tracker turned off for the foreground. Both images were at 16mm, f2.2 for 180 seconds at ISO 800 and 1600.

It has been longer than I wanted since | last spent the night out under the stars, but I finally managed to have the time, motivation and a clear night! The time lapse started a bit cloudy, but cleared just in time to have the Milky Way make a dramatic entrance. Watch to the end as the Milky Way fades away to see the crescent moon rise and the clouds roll in to catch the sunrise colors. While this camera was busy taking a photo every 30 seconds, I explored the area and captured some unplanned images, all the while listening to the hauntingly beautiful loon calls. Look for those images coming soon!

I left my camera out overnight to capture the stars at one of my favorite spots to start my day.

From the Milky Way to Sunrise, every moment watching the sky change over time is healing.

I haven’t even finished importing all the images from the previous night’s aurora, and I was back out again chasing the Aurora. My batteries weren’t fully charged from the previous night, and I wasn’t prepared for the single-digit temperatures, so I didn’t stay long, but it was a beautiful moment at a peaceful location.

I didn’t catch many meteors during the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, but the sky cleared up and the moonlight was sparkling across the fresh snow. This is a time blend of three shots out of over 1000.

Get out and explore however you can.

I still have some of my 2026 Calendars. September features this top-down aerial image of the amazing patterns that nature creates. To give you a sense of scale, the rocks near the bottom of the image, which appear to be pebbles, are about the size of my head. I see a leaf, others a tree. What do you see?

Despite the lackluster foliage, my busy schedule preparing for my art fair, and the lack of interesting weather, I still captured some classic fall aerial shots. This sunrise in Southern Vermont was stunning as I hiked through muddy paths and listened to the loons singing their morning greetings.
