We love those who other others!!!

For this a'peach'iation post, we are highlighting one of our longest standing volunteers and Board Vice President Pam Dacus.

Pam moved from Denver, Colorado, after her mom passed away. She was looking for a change and decided to visit her sister in Sierra Vista. As a retired Air Force veteran, she wanted to stay close to a military base and ended up making Sierra Vista her home.

During her time in the Air Force, Pam spent 15 years working in communications before moving into education and training. She spent six months in Kuwait, where she helped test individuals so they could earn their certifications. She describes it as a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun.

Pam has always had a heart for volunteering. When she moved to Sierra Vista, she started volunteering with the The Salvation Army Sierra Vista Corps. One day, someone told her about Peach's Pantry, and she was invited to help. That was 11 years ago, and she has been a dedicated volunteer ever since. Today, she serves on the board and helps make decisions for the organization.

What does she enjoy most about volunteering? The people, Pam loves talking with the other volunteers and helping new volunteers get started. She was named the volunteer coordinator because of her passion for leading and supporting others.

One of the moments that stands out to her was when she was helping at a school distribution. She saw firsthand how many students were taking food bags home. That experience showed her just how much of a difference Peach's Pantry makes for families in the community. She realized that the organization was having a real impact right in her own neighborhood. For anyone thinking about volunteering, Pam has a simple message: "Come on down! We're here every Thursday from 8:00 to 10:00, and we can always find something for you to do. We'll help you find a place where you're comfortable."

One thing people might be surprised to learn about Pam, she is an avid reader and always has a book nearby, whether she's reading on her phone or her iPad. She enjoys all kinds of books, but mysteries are her favorite.

Thank you, Pam, for your 11 years of dedication, leadership, and service to Peach's Pantry. Your caring heart and commitment to our community have made a difference in the lives of so many students and families. Peach’s Pantry is grateful for all that you do and for the impact you continue to make every week.
