From the moment I arrived at Pier 22 in Bradenton, Florida, there was this contagious energy that filled every part of the day. The kind that makes everyone relax, laugh a little louder, and forget about the camera.

There was music playing while everyone got ready.
There was nonstop laughter.
There were happy tears.
There was dancing before the dance floor was even officially open.

And by the reception? The sunglasses came out, the party kicked into high gear, and nobody was interested in playing it cool anymore.

People think I’m crazy when I say this, but when I book photos for my own family, I secretly hope it rains.

Not a sprinkle. Not a light mist.

I mean the kind of rain that sends everyone running for cover.

Because something beautiful happens when the sky opens up.

The pressure to be perfect disappears.

Nobody is worried about whether their hair is sitting just right. Nobody is checking every wrinkle, every flyaway, every little thing they thought mattered five minutes before.

The rain strips it all away.

And what’s left is real.

Laughter that can’t be posed.
Smiles that aren’t forced.
Moments that happen because you’re fully present instead of trying to control everything around you.

I’ve always felt like rain is cleansing. It asks us to surrender. To let go. To stop performing and simply exist.

That’s exactly what happened during this senior session in Sarasota

Summer lovin’… tell me why this entire session had the Grease soundtrack playing in my head the whole time editing ☀️🌊❤️

There’s just something so absurdly beautiful about young love when it’s carefree. The kind of love that laughs too loud, runs into the ocean fully clothed, steals kisses between waves, and turns a random beach evening into a core memory.

These two showed up to Venice Beach in matching red swimsuits with the cutest red and white striped inner tubes and instantly understood the assignment. Playful. Flirty. Sun soaked. Completely and truly open to creating something FUN together.

And honestly? Those are always the sessions that end up feeling magical.

I’ve been wanting to do a beach session with vintage style floaties and inner tubes forever because they photograph SO dreamily in the summer light, and every time someone comes to me saying “what’ve you got?” while being truly open to out of the box ideas… my brain basically turns into a chaotic little Pinterest board on fire 😂

I am absolutely chalk full of weird, whimsical, nostalgic beach session concepts at all times.

People think the perfect beach sunset is a totally clear sky but honestly? Give me the giant cotton candy clouds. Give me the moody layers. Give me the humid Florida air turning the whole sky into watercolor magic. Summer sunsets on Siesta Key are unmatched because all that Florida humidity creates the dreamiest cloud formations and when the sun finally dips low enough? Suddenly the entire sky catches fire in pink, peach, gold, lavender, and every color in between. 😭

And THIS sweet family of four got one of those nights. The kind where the wind is soft, the kids are giggling barefoot in the sand, the ocean glows silver blue, and every few seconds the sky changes colors like it’s trying to outdo itself.

There are days I’m driving to a session watching storm clouds build in the distance and instead of panicking my heart literally does a happy dance because I know we’re about to witness something unforgettable together. Some of the most beautiful galleries I’ve ever delivered happened under cloudy skies. Clouds don’t ruin sunsets. They create them. ☁️✨

The best part? Your kids won’t remember whether the sky was perfectly blue. They’ll remember running wild on the beach with you while the sky looked like a painting.

There’s something especially sweet about this stage of life.

Yet somehow, for one evening, they’re all standing barefoot in the sand together while the sun sinks into the Gulf.

These years are the big inhale.

The quiet pause before life expands again.

Because one day, the family photos will include spouses. Then grandbabies. Then tiny hands reaching for grandparents instead of parents. The circle grows wider, fuller, louder, and every chapter that follows is beautiful in its own way.

But this chapter?

This one deserves celebrating too.

The chapter where your children are grown, but still yours.
The chapter where dinner plans can still happen on a random Tuesday.
