The Gulf holds its breath
as the sun slips beneath the water’s edge.
Clouds catch fire for a moment,
then soften into violet and gold.
Waves keep arriving, unhurried,
as if they already know
this is enough.
No grand announcement.
Just the ordinary miracle
of another day closing
in color and calm.
I am grateful for the chance to stand here
and watch it go.
Goodnight, from Turtle Beach on Siesta Key, Florida.
