Congratulations to all the participants and Selected Grand Marshalls during this year's 37th Annual Long Beach (CA) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade and Celebration.

It was great to see familiar faces and embrace those who have deeply influenced my growth from my youth to who I am today.

This year was extra special as one of six Grand Marshalls for the King Jr Day Parade was my Grandmother Dale Clinton, a longtime community volunteer and advocate for social justice, and an even better matriarch for our family. Unfortunately, I arrived too late and missed the opportunity to capture her being honored during this year's celebration.

In keeping this post short, I’ll end with a shout-out to Carl Kemp and Pastor Gregory Sanders who acted as this year's Parade Announcers (MCs). Awesome Job to both of these great men. Carl Kemp, you continue to shine through your talents and love of Long Beach. You are truly an inspiration.

My camera has become a key to doors that would have otherwise remained closed, a therapeutic exercise into the creative space shared by others, and this experience was no different.
