"Shade & Sanctuary"
This is of my favorite spots that is tucked away on a trail along the Tchefuncte River. Every step on the trail is made by the roots of old moss-covered oak trees. In between the roots that go up and down there is enough earth to place your foot and step. It makes the hike fun and then this is the beautifully peaceful view once you reach the end. ©Louisiana Dreams & Beyond 2026

Best full screen. Swamps are not what many imagine. They are stunning and beautiful places that are so full of life. "Louisiana Treasure"
(Tap each and zoom in) I've been getting out quite often recently to capture all I can of Nature's verdant beauty in my area of Louisiana. I have loved Nature all of my life, and it has always been found in abundance all around me. I have never been a "city girl" and I could never enjoy that kind of life. These views are like treasure to me. Every mushroom, acorn, majestic tree, flower, or curtain of moss delights my eyes and my heart. It may look like Autumn, but the heat index was 103 degrees when I was out capturing this image yesterday! Our Bald Cypress trees typically show a mixture of green and colorful foliage once September arrives.
