People always ask me: is it worth including the dog in our newborn photo session?

Every. Single. Time.

I've photographed hundreds of newborn sessions. The ones with the family dog have some of the most beloved images in the gallery — not the most perfectly composed, not the most technically pristine. The most beloved.

Because a dog who doesn't know what the baby is, but knows they belong together — that's not something you can stage.

If your dog is part of your family, they belong in these photos.

If you would've asked me 15 years ago if I'd have a baby in December, I would've laughed in your face. (I also would've laughed if you told me I was going to have 6 kids, but that's another story).

Fast forward to the 2019, and I was not only due in December, but I was due CHRISTMAS DAY!

Guess what. It was the most magical Christmas ever. There's nothing like having a newborn, drinking coffee, with Christmas lights. (She came a few days early - because she was born to share a birthday with Elsa....).

So if you're expecting with a due date in December, it will be beautiful.

Also, how gorgeous is a baby with Christmas light bokeh? Let's get your newborn photo session on my calendar so you can have photos like these.

Fall maternity photos are some of the most stunning images I make all year.

Golden light. Changing leaves. You, at 32–36 weeks, looking like the season was made for you.

Here's the thing though — fall books up fast. Families are booking their holiday card sessions, and my calendar fills from both ends. If you're due in late fall or early winter, you need to book your maternity session now to guarantee a spot.

Maternity sessions with me are outdoors, unhurried, and honestly one of the most beautiful things you can do for yourself before the baby arrives. You deserve photos that remind you how incredible you are for growing an entire human.
