There’s something really special about watching families walk back into the studio with one more tiny baby in their arms 🤎

Photographing their second little one felt less like working with clients and more like catching up with old friends. Caffeine ready, soft music playing, baby cozy and cared for, and parents able to simply settle in and enjoy the moment while I take care of the rest.

That’s one of my favorite parts of this job, not just documenting one season of life, but getting to grow alongside families through all of them.

There’s something really special about this season. The waiting, the anticipation, the quiet moments before life shifts all over again.

Baby number four is on the way, and watching this mama soak in these last moments before becoming a family of six was so beautiful. Glowing is honestly an understatement.

I think maternity sessions become even more meaningful after you’ve already walked through motherhood a few times. You realize how quickly everything changes. One day you’re feeling those tiny kicks, wondering what this next chapter will look like, and before you know it, you’re in the middle of newborn snuggles, sleepless nights, and a whole new rhythm of life.

That’s why these moments matter. Not because everything is perfectly put together, but because this version of your family only exists for a little while. The waiting season deserves to be remembered too.

I already know their newborn session is going to be full of so much love, chaos, and the sweetest little moments. I can’t wait to capture this next chapter for them. 🤍

At one point during this session I said “OMG HE’S SO CUTE I JUST WANT TO SQUEEZE HIM” and I think his older brother became slightly concerned for his safety 🤣😍

There’s just something about this sitting stage. They’re full of personality, giving you all the belly laughs and giant smiles…but they’re not quite fast enough to keep me sprinting across the studio yet. Which honestly feels like the sweet spot.

And this baby?! Tell me he’s not giving baby Jack Jack from The Incredibles. I swear he looked like a real life cartoon character the entire session and I was obsessed.

Also…I officially tested out my new brown backdrop for this session and I fear this may become a permanent part of the studio lineup because ??? THE VIBES. The warmth, the texture, the soulful tones…I’m in love. Soon this backdrop will officially be available as an optional add on for sessions too.

The “magic 14 day window” for newborn photos…let’s talk about it.

Everyone talks about that first two weeks, and yes, babies are usually sleepier and curl easier. But it’s a recommendation, not a rule.

This little girl is past that window. She took a bit to settle, but once she was full, cozy, and comfortable, she gave us those same sleepy, snuggly poses.

For moms, you didn’t miss your chance.

For photographers, this is where your skill comes in.

Slow down. Read the baby. Guide the parents. Trust the process. Because it’s never just about timing, it’s about creating the space for these moments to happen.

That fresh newborn curl, the sleepy snuggles, and not a single care in the world. This is the beginning of everything 🤍

Life behind the scenes has been a little chaotic lately, in the best and most exhausting way. Between a full calendar of sessions, galleries waiting to be finished, and chasing my own three littles around, things are full over here. I’m working through everything as quickly and intentionally as I can, so if you’re waiting on your gallery, it’s coming soon. For once, I’m actually sticking to my 2-3 week turnaround instead of beating it, and I appreciate your patience more than you know!

One year sessions are one of my favorite milestones to capture.

This is the age where their little personalities really start to shine. The big smiles, the silly expressions, the tiny claps, the little curls, the chubby toes, the eyelashes…all the details that change way too fast.

They’re also usually on the move by this stage, which means I’m probably sweating by the end of your session from chasing your busy little babe around the studio, but it’s always worth it for the real, joy filled moments we capture.

Whether you want to include the whole family in your one year session or keep the focus on your birthday babe like this sweet family did, there’s no wrong way to document this season. As long as you’re freezing this stage before it changes again, you’re doing it right.

And trust me…somehow they’ll look even bigger tomorrow. 🥲

What editing your gallery actually looks like over here 🤪 excuse the language, but your bay truly is so effing cute!

A little bit of “why did the lighting shift there”
A little bit of “OH MY GOD you’re so cute”
And a whole lot of laughing at the toddler chaos

Somewhere between fixing tones and picking favorites…I start questioning if I need another baby in my life again. Pretty much every session haha

This is your sign that the “crazy” moments you worry about are usually my favorite ones.

And yes, I am absolutely talking to your baby through my screen the entire time.
