We got quite a bit of rain and wind in this past storm! The garlic got pretty wind blown but nothing was broken or uprooted, just a little loose in the soil. Once I propped it back up and added some additional supports it looked much better.

Wild Columbine is in bloom right now and is so gorgeous 😍

🐝 Also known as Red Columbine or Aquilegia canadensis, this perennial is one of the first sources of nectar for hummingbirds, butterflies and bees in the spring.
🦋 Host plant for the Columbine Duskywing butterfly.
☀️ Columbine tolerates medium to dry soil and anything from full sun to shade. The plant forms a neat clump, ~2 feet tall and plays well in garden beds. Columbine propagates via seed and does not spread aggressively.

In fitting Mother’s Day news, we’ve got baby bluebirds!!

Not sure if you remember but back in fall of 2024 a Downy Woodpecker hollowed out a cavity in this tree on our property. And now the Bluebirds have taken up residence.

Bluebirds are secondary cavity nesters, meaning they cannot excavate their own cavities and rely on other species such as woodpeckers or humans who put out nest boxes.

I’m so excited to see them grow 😍
