I took my son to New York last year, in the springtime, when life began blooming again. It was a quick trip, full of photoshoots, visiting with friends and family, and visiting different spots around the city. One of those places was One World Trade Center. It was a beautiful, blue-sky day, with warm sunshine beaming through, and a slight chill in the air. As we walked a few steps toward the reflecting pools, my son stopped, at a name, with a white rose within its letters. I stood behind him, so he could take in that name and what it meant. I later learned, that the white rose didn’t represent the loss of life, but it recognized the birthdate of that person. The roses represent the day that the person was born, and a rose is placed for every person, every year, on their special day. So while this memorial etches their names in the place they lost their lives, the day they were born into the world is recognized with a beautiful rose. How beautiful is that? 🌹 We then came upon what’s called The Survivor Tree. It stood on the World Trade Center concourse when the towers fell. It was later discovered beneath the rubble, with broken branches, snapped roots, and was severely burned. But after removing the tree, and nursing it back to health, it returned to One World Trade Center, where the memorial now stands. It signifies the resilience of life, even in the worst tragedy. And on that day, back in April of 2025, it was blooming new life yet again. ✨ I am reminded, year after year of the impactful words of Sandy Dahl. She was the wife of Flight 93 Pilot, Jason Dahl, “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” Continue to remember. Revere. Hold space for what will always be the BEFORE and then the AFTER. And that the only way forward, has always, and will always be, together. ❤️‍🩹

What a fun evening this was with sweet Delaney and her lovely momma! We ventured to the beautiful Homecamp flowers 🌸 in Three Oaks, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for a beautiful field of flowers to wander in. (Special thank you to the wonderful humans who take care of this beautiful farm. Your hospitality and kindness are so very appreciated!) 🌸 After our adventure among the flowers, we headed into downtown New Buffalo, which is always so vibrant with beach town charm, excitement and so many fun spots for young and old! We ended the evening at New Buffalo Beach, where we caught the sun setting and the moon rising! 🌖 It was the perfect way to celebrate this beautiful young lady’s exciting journey into her senior year. ✨ Congratulations Delaney! Hope your year is the best one yet. 💛

Love getting to meet such wonderful young people, as they prepare to start their senior year of high school. While bittersweet in many ways, many of them have such wild hope for the future … and I gotta’ say, with the crazy, uncertain world we find ourselves in, that’s something to get excited about. 🥹 Congratulations sweet Konrad. Keep chasing your dreams. 🎓✨

(And shoutout to all the amazing artists who have created some of the most impressive art work in downtown South Bend! Incredible, truly!)

Young people inspire me so much. They often have such hope and optimism that they carry, even in a world that is often unkind. We can learn so much from the next generation. And it’s been such an honor to meet so many wonderful young people this summer, including sweet Allison. Keep being your amazing self, and go chase your dreams. ✨ Also, who needs AI birds when you have the real ones, begging to be noticed. 💛

I met sweet Morgan back in May, as she was preparing to graduate from the University of Notre Dame, with her law degree! During her session, we chatted a lot about her home state of Colorado, her memories from her time at Notre Dame, and her sweet boyfriend, Brian. She knew an engagement was just around the corner, but the details were still to be determined. Fast forward to July, when Brian reached out about a little surprise proposal he’d been planning! We met on campus and roamed around the lakes, where, if you’ve ever seen the film Rudy, you remember the bench where he sat, as he learned he’d been accepted to the University of Notre Dame! 💛 I thought it could be the perfect spot, and Brian did too. So the date, the location, and time were set, and the plan was set into motion. And I gotta’ say, it couldn’t have been a more wonderful moment, as these two decided to say YES to forever, together. 🥹 While it was a HOT evening, they didn’t mind too much; you could feel the love, the care, the joy that this special moment brought them both. And goodness, do I feel super thankful to be a part of this now, beautiful memory. Congratulations, sweet Morgan and Brian. Wishing you nothing but joy, love, and happiness as you start your lives alongside of one another. 🥂
