Field & Nest Photography

Field & Nest Photography Field & Nest began on the sidelines — cheering for my boys, camera in hand, chasing the perfect shot.

What started as a way to freeze a fleeting moment of motion has grown into a love for capturing the heart of families — on the field, and in their nest.

The last two weekends have been 100% full of AAU basketball.
I show up to the court planning on a game or two, and end up watching and trying to capture five or six, as these kids come out of the woodwork everywhere we go!

NLA is EVERYWHERE— all ages, all gyms. It’s wild. Nate put up ten points today and had a BUNCH of rebounds— his team is starting to feel like a new home for us. Got to watch Gav on another NLA team too, and catch some of the younger ages’ game as well.

Clutch City has been running on championships— and these boys will always have a big piece of my sideline love! Been hanging out with some of these guys since Nate started football four years ago!

And the Madness team from Durham popped up in between all those games last weekend— girl’s basketball is a totally different ball game (pun intended), but it’s cool to see the difference between AAU and school ball for this crew.

There are HUNDREDS of photos from all these games on the website. Go check it out!

I don’t often do posts about my own kids solo on this page, but... I’m so damn proud of this kid.
Stepped WAY outside of his comfort zone this year joining a team he has never played with before with kids and coaches he has never met. In his first two games, he dropped several points, brought down several rebounds, and had some SOLID defense.

So cool to watch him do things he never would have considered years ago. Now for his damn jersey to get delivered..... 💀

The last two weekends have had time courtside at AAU basketball.
Nate had two back to back games with NLA-- for only having six kids on their team, they kept the games VERY close and I'm excited to see how they progress this season.

Clutch City played three games today, and came out with the championship! So fun to watch them play when they are locked in and working together!

Phew. It's been a minute!

Caught an AAU Clutch City game a couple weekends ago-- fun to watch them play together again!

Excited to catch more in the coming weeks, and some games for Nate with his NLA team! Six of our next ten weekends will be dominated with basketball-- and I wouldn't have it any other way!

If your kiddo plays AAU and will be at some of the upcoming tournaments through May, don't hesitate to let me know! I'd be glad to grab some photos while we are there!

Wild to think that we need to start thinking about senior photos for the incoming senior class of 2027!

I've caught many of these kids on the court, field, or elsewhere-- but I've been expanding my experience in portrait sessions, and I am excited to offer an introductory-priced senior picture season!

If you are interested in booking with me, please reach out. We will work together as the time gets closer to set the exact plans for date and location, but getting a sense of the who and how many will help me plan for what I hope is a busy season of capturing moments of these babies before they fly the nest.

A couple of things I want to make clear:
1) This will be my first year doing senior photos-- I will be more than open to feedback, editing, and adjustments until we get you what you want! My prices are far lower than the average in the community as I get started in this area-- I'm confident in my portrait skills, but also want to be realistic as I get started!

2) I will expect seniors to take a nice photo with their mom, if their mom wants that. This is me manifesting a senior session in a few years with my boy, too.

3) All photo sessions will be turned around within three to five business days. I will not take on more than I can handle with that turnaround. Timeliness is important to me!

4) If parents would like to extend the senior session into a family session with parents, siblings, etc. I am open to that for a package price of $400.

OK.... I think that's it for now. This feels like a big leap from the plan of me hanging out on the sidelines, but--- I'm excited!

I always find it hard to edit at the end of a season. Every picture I look at is a moment I'm sad to see ending.

Tried to count up the number of basketball games I caught this season, and frankly-- once I passed 60, it just felt ridiculous.

From the littlest of the littles for Nolan on Saturday mornings, to a Rec game on a random Saturday, to all of Nate's middle school games, to a few of Sammy's games for Freeport Middle, to every single boy's high school game--- somehow, hundreds of hours over the season passed in the blink of an eye.

All of the photos from the season are officially up on the website. https://field-and-nest-photography.squarespace.com/

On to the spring!

Last game for the boys and girls team at DCS.

I am not one to be loud at games (HA.) but this one was WILD. The black and white of Nate, Gav and Reido tells it all.

NATE fouled out. Nate. Like... Nate. My son, Nate. Like. Nate.
Along with two or three other dudes.
If that tells you anything.

When the game ended, I was once again incredibly sad. I get like that every SINGLE time there is an "end of an era" moment. Senior night when I still have four years to go until Nate is there, and TEN until Nolan is-- and yet, I needed one of the boys on the team to remind me that the "sun will shine tomorrow".

It brings me so much happiness to be on the sidelines--- for all these babies, and my own.

BIG win on senior night last night against a solid GNG team. To see the score fly up and to see these boys all show up in huge ways on their final home game-- best time ever.

Couple hundred on the website-- game and some family photos after!
