Having never had family portraits, I was so excited to capture these three! Their little one was full steam ahead, making this session all about fun, play and cuddling up in between!

While the smiles and laughter are a given, for me and likely you, it’s the smallest details that hit the heart deepest and bring us back.

The tiny hand that once fit in yours… the baby curls…the favorite stuffed animal always close by…the squishy cheek pressed against yours. Years from now, today’s pictures become a reminder of what it felt like when your presence was their comfort, your hand was the one they reached for, and simply being together was enough.

Five kids, wide-open land, and the glow of sunset wrapped around them, this family session unfolded exactly as it should - free-flowing and full of life.

With a mix of older high schoolers and little ones eager to run, we leaned into what always works best: letting the kids explore, play, and simply be themselves.

Visiting from Oklahoma, the Farmer family scored a beautiful sun-soaked day along the shores of Lake Tahoe, chasing little footsteps as they celebrated the start of a beautiful third generation. This heartfelt family session was gifted to Grandma by her three daughters, making it all the more meaningful.

Swipe along to feel the happiness and if you’d like more, the full feature is up on the blog! (Link in bio)

Three generations, 11 people, and a whole lot of personality in one place. These sessions are some of my favorites - not because they’re perfectly posed, but because they’re full of life. The kids running around, grandparents soaking it all in, siblings laughing like no time has passed… it’s the kind of connection you can feel when you look back on the photos.

Getting to know your family tree ahead of time allows me to show up with the key piece to orchestrate a seamless flow for candids while capturing the whole group and every combination within it with ease.

Living in Tahoe, I get to photograph families who’ve come from all over to be together. Sometimes it’s the only time all year (or longer) that everyone’s in the same place. And when you think about it… how often does that really happen?

Between boat days, bbq’s, and lake time carving out one hour to document it all becomes the souvenir you’ll keep forever.

If you have a family trip on the calendar this summer, this is your sign to make it count!

When the opportunity comes to sit for … you pull up a chair.

His work lives in a different space than mine. Quieter, closer, more introspective. Where I chase movement and candids, he leans into stillness and truth.

An afternoon of slowing down, testing gear, exchanging stories and stepping into the opposite side of the lens.

Different rhythm. Same love for the craft. Grateful to learn.

The plan: A quick stop at their favorite Lake Tahoe beach before dinner.

The reality: Lucas was going to pop the question.

Since the road to Round Hill Pines is closed in winter, we needed a believable reason to be there. Angelika knows me and it may tip her off to see me, the only other one there during this “spontaneous” visit. Building a plot line is my favorite part of a proposal, next to the anticipation of when he reaches to the nax pocket. I roped in some very willing friends and staged a casual beach hangout so I could blend in. If Angelika wandered over to say hi, we had our story ready.

Lucas sent the text, they had parked and were walking down.

Game on!

Taylor knew he wanted to propose to Gavin on one of their upcoming trips. As pilots, travel is simply part of life and while she knew a proposal was coming, when and where it would happen was the real mystery.

On a drive from Sacramento to an event in Reno, they’d be passing through Lake Tahoe….

A scenic stop, a perfect surprise proposal plan!
