1️⃣: I do not and will not offer a full client closet.

The reasons for this are PLENTIFUL, so lemme break it down in a digestible way to skim through:

✔️ I don’t own the right to dress you in a way I think is “suitable”. You do.

✔️ If you walk into the studio with a bag full of wardrobe that you’re excited and confident about wearing, that is one less stress factor we have to battle later on.

✔️ This is not a set it and forget it type of session. Trying on wardrobe, getting professional measurements, learning your true sizes, discovering your lingerie likes and dislikes, and walking away with your invested pieces expands your experience beyond just the photoshoot.

✔️ I have an accessories closet that ALL clients have access to shop which includes heels, pearls, honey drip, ice, shirts, hats, jewelry, bedsheets and steamy shower — so technically I would have you fully covered with just my closet but that will not feel as personally curated for you.

✔️ You should have autonomy and make your own personal decisions with plenty of time and grace before you step into the studio for the first time. I am here to help and guide you as requested.

✔️ Your wardrobe aesthetic informs the look of the shoot, your hair and makeup choices, and posing styles. This makes your session custom tailored and distinct from anyone else’s.

My standard rule of thumb I learned from my own bra fitting experience that works over and over with my bo***ir clients:

Go down a band size and up 1-2 cup sizes.

The band is what actually keeps you secure, not the cups.

Make sure it fits on the loosest clasp when you first buy it (snug is normal!) because as it stretches you’ll need to tighten it.

When in doubt, visit your local lingerie store for a proper fitting and lmk if this hack worked!

👑PRO TIP: never throw them in washing machine!

When you’re out in the wild the photographer is usually a partner, friend, sibling, parent, etc. who just wants to get this over with and doesn’t know how to direct you.

So what if you direct them?

✔️Here’s what I’d say to them:
“Ok, I always look so awkward in photos so I’m just gonna move around a little bit and I’m not gonna look at you, but I just want you to keep on snapping.”

Now you’ve given yourself permission to channel your inner influencer without feeling awks.

✔️Then, here’s what I’d do:
Keep on moving like they’re taking a video. If you stop to pose, and the camera isn’t fast enough/you’re not in sync, you’ll be blurry or worse. I’d make my classic “photo face” then laugh at myself after. Give a wink and a smile at the lens. Look THROUGH the lens and think about something joyful (my kids, a sweet text, my favorite photo of myself)

❌What I WOULD NOT do:
Check in on myself while the photo is being taken.

This is something almost everyone does subconsciously.

Experience the moment instead of asking:

“Is my chin okay?”
“Do I look silly?”
“Where are my hands?”

That mental checklist shows up on your face and the best photos are created when you’re interacting with something outside yourself.

The way you see yourself externally can directly impact the connection and confidence you feel internally.

They say dress for the job you want, so does that apply to everything else too?

Dress for the romance/love/connection/autonomy/relationship you want?

It’s a hard yes for me.

I’m a bo***ir photographer in New Jersey, and while lingerie can fit into the fold of dressing for the kind of love/desire/relationship you want, it doesn’t start or end there. There are limitless looks and experiences to help achieve what you’re looking for…

But most importantly, it all starts and ends with you, girly girl. Your own relationship/desire/connection to yourself.

Clients always walk into my studio and say “it’s so cute in here!”

And it is! But they don’t know how intentional my fixtures and furnishings really are to confidently photograph any woman who walks through the doors regardless of age, skin tone or body type.

1) scale of furniture matters! All of my furniture, including the hair and makeup chair, is deep and wide so everyone feels comfortable throughout their session.

2) contrast! I have dark floors paired with light rugs that I can move as needed depending on skin tone and lighting in the studio that day.

3) lighting! My studio is adorned with massive windows that look gorgeous even when it’s raining out. I also use mirrors and strobes/flashes/video light to act as fill light when it’s too shadowy. I also love bulb lamps around my bed and sofa to add warmth and depth that looks gorgeous against every skin type.

4) wardrobe recs! I send all my clients a style guide to help them prepare for our session. I’m explicit with colors that photograph well here (jewel tones!), and not so well (neon). Knowledge is power when planning your bo***ir shoot.

5) classic sets. I work with women ages 20s-70s and if we don’t keep truly timeless sets in the studio, it could feel too young or too old. I have floral wallpaper, painted canvas backdrops, plain white or charcoal walls, fluffy boucle chairs, or solid wood seats, and clean satin ivory sheets to support any aesthetic, any time.

I was gifted this letter board but I’d buy it again and again if I needed to. It is the single most disarming thing I have at my bo***ir studio to make clients feel like they are seen, welcome and wanted here ❤️
