I came across this photo from a wedding I recently photographed, and I couldn’t love it more. 🤍
After photographing countless weddings, there are a few things I wish more wedding guests understood.
Lately, I’ve noticed more and more guests helping themselves to the desserts before the bride and groom have even entered the reception. And unfortunately, I’ve seen so many times where the desserts are completely gone by the time the couple gets there.
And honestly… that makes me so sad.
The bride and groom and their families spent so much time, effort, and money planning this day. Those desserts were purchased for everyone to enjoy, but the couple should absolutely get to enjoy them too.
And while we’re talking about wedding etiquette…
Please, please sit down and be quiet during the dances. 🥹
When the bride and groom are having their first dance as husband and wife, please stop talking, put the phones down, and take a moment to actually watch them.
The same goes for the father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, and all of those special moments throughout the evening.
I’ve seen it so many times — the bride and groom are in the middle of one of the most meaningful moments of their lives, while guests are standing around talking, getting food, taking pictures of themselves, or simply not paying attention.
I know weddings are celebrations. I know everyone is there to have fun. And you absolutely should!
But remember why you were invited. ❤️
These two people have spent months planning this day. Their families have waited for this moment, poured their hearts into it, and invested so much to make it special.
Those moments happen once.
So when the music starts and the bride and groom step onto that dance floor, give them a few minutes of your undivided attention.
Sit down. Be quiet. Watch. Cheer. Celebrate them.
Because as a photographer, I can tell you that these are the moments they will look back on forever.
And honestly, there is nothing more beautiful than a room full of people who are completely present and genuinely celebrating the couple.
Be the guest who makes the couple feel like the most important people in the room. 🤍✨
