“Tangerine Dream”

Thanks to an abundance of smoke from the wildfires in Canada, the sun rose this morning looking more like an orange, than the blazing ball of energy that is our nearby star. 🍊☀️

Naturally, I had to snap a photo. iPhone had to fill in for the “big boy” camera…📸

“Nature’s Fireworks” ⛈️⚡️

I made this image during a thunderstorm last month, and happened to be in the right place, at the right time.

Fortunately, the storm was moving away and in a northeasterly direction, which miraculously resulted in no rain and only a slight breeze at my vantage point.

I don’t use an infrared lightning trigger to detect upcoming bolts. Just a series of random, 6-second shots, hoping I capture something. This frame was a close second to a previous shot I posted of a lightning burst directly over Fort Gorges that same night.

I love wild weather. Always have. But as a reminder, I make every effort to photograph it safely when the conditions are right.

And on that night, things worked out perfectly. 👌

“I’m pretty tired. I think I’ll go home now…” - Forrest Gump

That’s pretty much what I said to myself as Friday night eased into early Saturday morning during an impromptu trip to chase the Milky Way at Marshall Point Light (which was featured during Forrest’s famous running montage in “Forrest Gump”).

It was wonderfully peaceful and awe-inspiring, all at once. Looking forward to a return trip, for sure! 📸

I had a rare chance to see one of the world’s best drummers last night, as Stewart Copeland made an appearance at the Waldo Theater in Waldoboro.

For those who may not recognize his name, despite his extensive musical background, Stewart co-founded the rock band The Police with Sting and Andy Summers back in the day.

Stewart gave an incredibly engaging, entertaining talk about his upbringing—both familial and musical—detailing his journey from childhood up to the formation of The Police.

Following a brief intermission, Stewart happily answered questions submitted by the audience. It was a great night, with a great crowd, and was even more enjoyable watching it all from the front row! 🥁

If you’ve never seen a show at this venue, it’s a cool little spot off the beaten path. Ironically, unbeknownst to be, Andy Summers made an appearance there awhile back. Sounds like all we need now is an appearance/performance from Sting, and the rock and roll trifecta will be complete. 😎😎😎

“Lighting up the Night”

Although red, white and blue are the colors we most associate with the Fourth of July, I was particularly taken with this huge burst of emerald green over Bug Light Park, Casco Bay and the Portland skyline on Saturday night. 🎇🎆🇺🇸

Prints available. PM me, if interested. Thx!

“Blessed”

Enjoying some much-needed family time with this crew. AND it’s our first-ever Sox-Yankees game! Fingers crossed Boston finds a way to win this one. Even if they don’t, we’re still making memories to last a lifetime. ⚾️❤️

“Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning…”

Mother Nature seriously brought her “A” game this morning, giving us a nice, colorful start to the day before the clouds moved in, paving the way for rain.

Not a bad way to be celebrating Will’s birthday…

A little Sal’s Pizza, a little BP from atop the famed, Green Monster and hopefully it concludes with a Red Sox win, completing a 3-game sweep of the Texas Rangers…⚾️🤞
