2026.07.18 Machias Seal Island. Although the puffins are the big draw, getting to see the Northern Gannet during this visit was a special treat!

2026.07.18 - A fantastic trip to Machias Seal Island. First, a huge shout out and thank you to the Bold Coast Charter Company. Abby, Anna, and Captain Bob were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and just incredible hosts and guides for us all. Everyone on the boat was excited to be there, engaging, and sociable. And what a day we had!! Calm seas for the 10-mile ride to the island. Overcast skies for good photo conditions. I am sure I will share many more pics in the coming days/weeks of the various birds and sites we experienced.

The Great State of Maine Air Show 2026 was amazing. I have a lot of pictures and video to review, but the heart in the sky created by the ROYAL AIR FORCE RED ARROWS sums up how I felt about it!

2026.06.26 Fox and Groundhog. The young fox came scampering around the backyard and the groundhog wasn't too impressed. After just a few seconds of the faceoff, the young fox thought better of it and retreated.

2026-06-29 Strawberry Full Moon Rise. I went out with a particular shot in mind and am a little disappointed I didn't get it. When I arrived on Popham Beach and looked across the two miles of ocean at Sequin Island Lighthouse and saw the smoke and haze, I almost turned around and left because I thought I was not going to see the moon as it rose. With that thought in mind, I didn't check my location for accuracy of where I needed to be to align with the lighthouse and the moon. So when the moon peaked over the horizon. I was surprised but happy to see it, but I was quite a way down the beach for proper alignment. Setting that aside, the moon color was something to behold! Canon EOS R5 with RF800mm lens.

2026.06.19 - This is the sturgeon I recently posted. In electronic mode, the Canon R5 Mark II will take 30 frames per second. Looking at the time on the images, these 14 frames are 0.45 seconds so I decided to make a gif out of them.

2026.06.19 - Sturgeon Leap!! I have managed to capture a leaping sturgeon (mostly) in focus a few times. This time it feels like I really got it. The 2nd image is just a tighter crop of the same image. Merry Meeting Bay in June is pretty active with sturgeon! Canon R5 Mark II, 1/2000, f13, ISO 5000

2026.06.23 Bath is looking bright! This sunset was brilliant in all directions! As I first got up to the Sagadahoc Bridge, I saw hint of rainbow as I looked down river so I grabbed a couple of images hand held before setting up the tripod. Because I couldn't choose which ones I liked best, here are 10. Do you have a favorite?
