From our conversations leading up to the wedding to figuring things out together as the day unfolded, there was just an ease to this one. And I think that’s part of why I loved photographing this day so much.

We made the portraits. We got the family photos. We did all the things you’re “supposed” to do but we also knew when to say okay, that’s enough. Go get a drink. Go hug your people. Go take a second. Go actually be at your wedding.

I never want making photographs of your life to get in the way of you actually living it. Cheers to Katie & Tarik!

Alexa and Kevin set out to have the party of the century with all of the people they love most… and they easily succeeded! There was no shortage of energy throughout the day, with their loved ones traveling from far and wide to celebrate alongside them.

From the very beginning, their people were easygoing, fully present, and ready to have a good time, which made it so easy for me to slip into the group and understand their dynamic early on. These are the kinds of wedding days that feel like a breeze to document… no fuss, no overthinking, just everyone enjoying the celebration and trusting me to capture it as it unfolded.

A recent engagement session spent sauntering around West Chester and getting to know Tarik & Katie a bit more.

I love getting to know my couples face to face before their wedding day. I try to be really honest about who I am and how I approach weddings, so by the time we meet, it already feels easy. I remember getting off my first call with Katie thinking, “I really hope they book,” because it felt like such a natural fit on both ends.

This session felt more like old friends catching up than meeting for the first time, and I truly believe that comfort always finds its way into the photographs.

I already know their wedding later this summer is going to be a good one and I can’t wait to document it all!

Getting to document another chapter of Supriya & Kevin’s story feels incredibly special.

From when they first started dating, to now being engaged, and soon married this fall.

One of my favorite parts of this work is watching my couples grow over time and trusting me to document who they are in each season. The photos are never really just about one session or one milestone… they become part of a much bigger story.

I’m so deeply inspired by nostalgia. I love knowing that years from now, these images will remind them not just of what life looked like, but what it felt like. Thank you to all of my couples for trusting me with these special seasons! 💗

10 years, a move to Hawaii, buying their first home, giving me my first niece, and a wedding surprise that caught just about everyone off guard.

In typical Kyra fashion, she casually dropped the news on me in the form of a joke while I was taking baby photos.

Honestly, it only makes sense that Jeff and Kyra (my new sister!!!) got married in their home surrounded by a few of their closest people.

A decade in, there wasn’t much left to prove. Just a room full of people who love them and a day that felt entirely like them!

One of my favorite things Megan told me on her wedding day was that she originally had a Pinterest board full of wedding photo ideas. And then at some point she stopped looking at it.

Their wedding never felt like it was trying to be anything other than what it was: a really good day spent with the people they love most.

I get excited for the couples who roll with the punches.

The ones who look at a little chaos and say, “I swear you can’t write this sh*t” before laughing and moving on.

The bride who decides halfway through the reception that her dress is too long, grabs a pair of scissors, rounds up her girls, and cuts the thing off right then and there.

I love the messy timelines. The unexpected side quests. The humanness of it all.

Most of all, I love couples who choose to do whatever the hell they want on their wedding day. I’m there to document not direct.

A wedding day feels more lived in when you lean into your own instincts…

The only real directing I did during Luke and Nicole’s wedding was gently reminding them (and the people they love most!) to let moments play out however it would occur if I wasn’t present with a camera. I think the moment we start directing scenes in the suit of “perfection” people quickly become of aware of themselves instead of each other. It can quickly turn into self monitoring and takes people out of the moment and into their own heads (and let’s admit it we live in our heads enough during our day to day lives!)

What made the most sense about Luke and Nicole is that they had their vows written out on index cards and I promise you that it didn’t take away from the moment at all!
