Almost a year ago, I was flying into LA for these two lovers. Stayed in the cutest airbnb, made friends with the airbnb owner,(typical thing I tend to do;) thrifted my little heart out strapped mirror and art to my back on an e-scooter, soaking up the Cali sunshine. Funny thing, there are amazing photographers on that side of the country. (Groom Eddie, included!) They found me through a hashtag- which yes, although the airport code, was actually my silly mom-ass tagging lacrosse 😂. After a phone call, and realizing our time zone mix up, I was sure I would be sending west coast referrals to these beauts.

As you may have noticed…. Hence attached photos…I was never asked to send any references. Eddie and Alyssa called me back overly impressed with my wedding guide, my expertise and the natural connection we shared an entire country apart. Happy to include my travel, and a seat at their table.

These genuine humans intentionally created a day celebrating themselves- their love story, and the family members who aided in such a beautiful creation.

I am honored to have been brought into it, the invite for dinner, meeting all the cousins and besties, the dance floor with the “Prince” impressionist.. and to witness moms reaction to all the surprise entertainment. 😆💜

So for all other photographers out there, remember you are chosen for a reason, but don’t forget you get to choose too. Surround yourself and career with clients who are amazing, because truly loving what we do keeps us creating and performing at our best. -

Nothing is better than a party with your best friends and loved ones, celebrating YOU TWO!!! Something we incorporate at each wedding over here is our “drunken flash shoots” - trademark in process haha! - 😆 10 minutes, post wedding events and timeline stress…. Let’s go run on the street, find a second for the two of you to breath and connect and get some spice in your final gallery. TRUST ME, it’s worth it.

Home. For most people this describes a particular building, a feeling of sentiment, or the more obvious, location. Recently we’ve been discussing when we will go “ home” next. As some of you may know, my husband and I grew up in the PNW. As far as scenery it’s pretty unbeatable, however don’t expect to walk to the mailbox without being asked your political views. What many of you may not know, is that in 2017 myself and the kids moved “home“ temporarily during my husband‘s last deployment. We were in transition to move overseas after the hubs return, and I prematurely sold our house at the current duty station in preparation. What sounded like a mild vacation, and distraction for the kids ended up resurfacing past emotions. My family is amazing. Yet being back in my home town only brought up pain of adolescence and connections so intertwined that I felt alone where I was meant to feel surrounded. Once you move away so permanently and begin to raise your family it’s an odd mental block to come home and imagine anything else. It became so frustrating for me to run into individuals at the grocery store to be confronted with questions like “What if ___”. “If you had only,______.” “Are you going back to church?” “You could’ve been_____”.
My youthful redundancy of not feeling heard or believed.
“You could’ve been.”
It took me a hot minute to get here. But you’re all right. I “could’ve” been many things. I CAN be many things.
Yet I would never be happy in the things someone else designed for me. To myself and future self:
I AM many things. And best of all things, I am happy. Happy with who I am. -who I love -who I’m with -who I miss -who I’m raising -who I serve -who is meaningful. For where I am in this path, fully proud of what I’ve done and still devoted to what I want to do that makes me happy.
So if you are finding yourself in a similar spot, my best advice is to free yourself of resentment, use whatever means available to work even harder towards your happiness. It starts with being happy with your choices. Wrong or right they led you to where you are now, and will always be apart of your path. Never allow others turn your trail into mud while making your way HOME.

Just pretend this reel actually worked. K thanks because I’m over it 😂. Here’s my grocery store addiction when I need to clear my head, I look to the limited flower selection while shopping to prepare dinner to feed my army. And while 7lbs of meat cooks... I cut stems to make a simple Vday counter piece to enjoy. ❤️❤️ This hardy little flower is underrated. Just sayin’
