3 things I wish I knew before starting my business…and honestly, I’m still learning some of them. 😂

Being good at what you do and knowing how to market it are two VERY different skills. I just wanted to take pretty pics. I didn’t expect I’d need to know marketing 😅

People want to see the person behind the business…which means occasionally I have to get out from behind my camera and actually show my face. 😂

And maybe the biggest one?

My business deserves its own branding too. 🙌🏼

I spend so much time helping other businesses create photos and content that feel like THEM…and it can be really easy to put my own business on the back burner.

But I deserve updated photos. I deserve content I’m excited to share. I deserve to invest in the business I’m asking everyone else to believe in too. 💜

Business owners…what’s something you wish you knew when you started?

To be completely honest, a personal brand session can help you with all of these issues. Need photos for marketing? Done. Need to show your face more? Done. And every brand/person deserves to have updated brand photos. If you’re ready to book, DM me today!

Okay… the secret is out of the bag! 😂

The secret?

Don’t rely on one type of product photo.

You need:
📸 White background images for listings.
📸 Lifestyle photos showing the product in use.
📸 Detail shots highlighting features.
📸 Brand images for social media.
📸 Video clips for reels and ads.

The brands getting the most mileage from their content aren’t creating more products…

They’re creating more ways to show the products they already have.

What type of product content are you missing right now: website photos, social media content, or videos?

If you’ve ever thought, “I need better photos for my business,” I’d argue you probably need something bigger than that.

Every business owner in this reel came to their session with different goals, different personalities, different products, and different stories to tell. The one thing they all had in common? They needed photos that actually felt like them.

That includes a counseling office that needed updated headshots. Even though they were technically headshots, we approached them like a branding session: leaning into each person’s personality and how they wanted to show up so the photos felt warm, approachable, and true to who they are.

Not stiff.
Not overly polished.
Not a gallery full of photos you’ll never use.

Photos for your website.
Photos for social media.
Photos for launches.
Photos that help people understand who you are and what you do before they ever hit “follow” or “buy.”

Your brand is more than a logo.
Your photos should be more than a headshot.

If you’re a small business owner who’s tired of scrambling for content every week, let’s fix that. DM me to book your session.

Which shoot in this reel is your favorite? 👇

The vibe for recent releases was “A love letter to classic American summers” and slower, more sentimental summer feelings. I knew I had to use my video for some extra nostalgic vibes. Added a little something different to the shoot and was so fun to do!

“Your headshots are fine. Your content strategy isn’t. And nobody is telling you this.”

I see this constantly (& am so guilty of it too so you’re not alone!).

Business owners invest in beautiful brand photos…then post one image every 3 weeks with a caption that says: “new headshots 🤍”

Meanwhile, they’re sitting on an entire gallery that could be building trust, creating connection, answering client questions, selling their offers, and reminding people why they should work with them.

The issue usually isn’t that you need more photos.
It’s that there’s no strategy behind the photos you already have.

Every image should have a job:
• build trust
• tell your story
• show your process
• answer objections
• create connection
• make people want to buy from you

One of the biggest things I recommend?
Write caption ideas before you choose the photo. Then you’ll know what photos we need to take during your session.

Because the story comes first. The photo supports it.

This is also why brand sessions with me are never just “show up and smile at the camera.” We plan intentionally:
What do you need to share consistently?
What do your customers need to see to trust you?
What content will actually help you sell your products/services?
Why do you need (or want) photos?

One of the biggest things my clients say before booking: “I have no idea what to post.”

Which honestly makes sense because trying to run a business AND constantly create content is exhausting 😅 (I FEEL YOU!) That’s why my personal brand sessions include BOTH photos + 10+ custom video clips.

So instead of leaving with just a few headshots…you leave with content for:
✨ reels
✨ stories
✨ launches
✨ website updates
✨ behind the scenes
✨ Instagram posts
✨ email marketing
✨ and the random “I need to post something today” moments

These little clips may seem simple, but they make showing up online SO much easier.

And the best part?
You don’t have to figure it all out yourself while standing awkwardly in front of a camera wondering what to do with your hands 😂

I guide you through the entire thing.

The brands people remember usually aren’t the ones that look the most polished. They’re the ones that feel real.

Your future clients want to know:
• who they’re buying from
• what it feels like to work with you
• if they can trust you
• if your personality matches what they’re looking for

That’s why your photos matter so much more than just “looking professional.”

You don’t need stiff poses, forced smiles, or photos where you barely recognize yourself. You need images that actually feel like you.

That’s what I help with during personal brand sessions:
• natural posing so you don’t feel awkward
• photos that show personality and professionalism
• b-roll/content clips for reels & stories
• images that work for your website, Instagram, launches, emails, and everyday content
• helping you figure out what kind of photos your business actually needs before your session even starts

Basically…less “corporate headshot energy” and more “the person your dream clients already want to work with.”

And honestly? The businesses getting the most connection online right now are the ones willing to be human. 🤍

What’s one thing you wish felt easier about showing up online?
