A friend shared this the other day and it landed right in my heart; it spoke perfectly about the profound impact photography has had in my life. When I got my first digital camera seventeen years ago, I found myself, truly, for the first time in my life. I began to value myself; I saw my creative self come to life. The joy of creativity, and the realization that I, too, had gifts and abilities that I had waited decades to discover, led me to pursue my other passion. I allowed myself to write, to create and share, without apology, without shrinking away from it because someone might not appreciate what I'd done. My camera carried me, and still does, and always will, as long as I can hold it and capture that one small thing that speaks to me alone.
