Howdy there y'all.

So, I've been gone for a few months. It's been a very well needed time off to focus on myself and to just take a break. Sometimes we just....need a break from it all. Can I get an amen? *AMEN*

With this break, I have made the difficult decision to discontinue with my photography business from this point forward.

Does this mean I will stop photography altogether? Absolutely not. I love photography, so much. It really is my passion and I am awe of everything that I've been able to experience because of it. The amazing people that I've met and worked with, your families, stories, and weddings....I just can't believe that I've been able to witness so much of this in my nine years of being a photographer. And I thank each and every single one of you who have asked me to document any part of your lives or have supported me at any time. It has meant the world to me over the years.

Will I ever pick it back up? It's a possibility, it really just depends on life itself and if I ever feel like I'm mentally ready to do it again, professionally. I will still continue to photograph my babies and family, that's a given. And I'm going to be honest with ya folks, this is so hard. I love this, I love photographing people and their stories. But I've been struggling with a mental illness to the point to where it keeps me from doing my job as a professional photographer. I'm not hiding from it, or pushing it down, and saying that "I'm doing great!", because I'm not. NOW, I will say, since announcing my break in early April, I've been doing better. And better things are happening for me as the time passes, even though I still have PLENTY of bad days.

Again, I thank any and all of you who have chosen me to be your photographer at any time since 2010. I've come so far and have changed so much and I hope to see many of you in my next journey (because there is one coming and SOON, so don't worry 😉).

Things have been a little quiet around here, I know. But things have been on the back burner for a reason.

I’ve thought about this for some time, but JMP will no longer be accepting any bookings for the remainder of 2019, unless I decide otherwise.

Before y’all start asking, everything is fine. I just need to take some time for some self care, as I’ve been ignoring my own physical and mental health for quite some time now. Ya girl needs to just take a step back and take care of herself....for once, lol. I’m always one who will take care of everyone else first and not worry about myself. I’m sure y’all know someone out there like this, lol.

Things may be different come this fall, I may be mentally prepared to pick things back up again, but I can’t promise that. I may be happy doing a couple of fall minis, but that will come in time. In the meantime, I appreciate all of you and thank you for understanding. If you don’t understand, please feel free to reach out, I’m an open book 📖

I will still try to post here and there, I’ll actually be sharing an elopement from yesterday very soon! But if any news comes, I’ll share it as soon as I can. Thank you all and I’ll see you soon ❤️

Happy !

Throwback to the surprise proposal between Jeremy & Marett. I was asked to pretend to need models for an upcoming engagement session while they were taking a stroll through the Wofford College campus. I just instructed them as I normally would and Jeremy popped the question after walking a little bit into the grass. Marett was TOTALLY surprised and, spoiler alert, she said yes 😋. They are married now, but this was my first proposal and am still so happy to have been a part of this wonderful moment.

If you’re engaged or married, what is your proposal story? Mine? Funny story, my husband had asked me months before what I would do if he proposed to me on April Fools Day. I mean, I laughed, like anybody normally would, and said, I don’t know, that’s crazy. But we always talked about situations like that, so it didn’t cross my mind anymore. It was April 1st, 2008 and it was like any other day. My hubby was at my house, his mom came with him, which wasn’t anything different as well. We all enjoyed each other’s company and were out talking on the porch. So our moms went inside and we sat there by ourselves for a minute, just snuggled up on the porch swing. Next thing I know, he’s telling me how much he loves me and is on his knee with a ring in his hand. And to tell you the truth, I don’t remember what all he said while he was on his knee because I was in such shock and kept saying, “ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Are you kidding?!” over and over again, lol. I obviously said yes as well. Still love that man with my whole heart ❤️

Just be mindful ladies if you’re dating a goof like I’m married to, watch out, April 1st is coming, lol. And if you do say yes, I know a good wedding photographer 😜

Ever wondered what your wedding would look like in an album? Here are some images from the most recent album I designed for Duncan Estate to display and show to newly engaged couples looking at their gorgeous venue. These photos are from Steve & Tricia's beautiful wedding back in 2017 and were the perfect example to show off just how perfect your wedding can be.

Also, with a little help of my daughter turning the pages, you can see the full album (taken with an iPad, y'all it just doesn't do it any justice, it's a beautiful album!) in the video I posted right after this post :)
