The Lookout Mountain fire is just a few short miles from our home. Spent the late afternoon and evening watching the air show as firefighters worked to keep homes safe. Lots of evacuations are in place tonight. Praying for no winds tonight and a safe night for all first responders. Hoping for cooler temps tomorrow and containment.

Sometimes, we just need to slow down enough to notice the little things... such as backyard fly-ins.
A flame skimmer or scarlet darter is usually found around lakes or ponds (perhaps my birdbaths qualify in a drought year?). The bright red/orange color is generally found in males trying to attract a mate.
