Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference. 🤎
I recently acquired the cutest little toddler-sized Radio Flyer wagon, which meant I finally had an excuse to give my old wooden wagon a makeover.
As much as I loved the bright red for one specific session (it was PERFECT for a watermelon half-birthday 🍉), I found myself reaching for it less and less because it tended to steal the focus. I wanted something that would complement my clients instead of competing with them, so I decided on a warm, neutral finish that will work with so many more outfits and studio sets.
Before I even opened a paint bottle, I went down a rabbit hole researching lead paint, child-safe materials, and protective sealants. Since babies love to touch (and sometimes chew 😅) literally everything, I wanted to make sure it was as safe as it was beautiful. Thankfully, both the wagon and another old wooden toy I’ve been saving tested negative for lead!
Of course, this project wasn’t without its “why did I do it this way?” moments… halfway through painting I realized I probably should’ve removed the hardware first. 🤦🏼♀️ The wheels came off easily. The handle? Absolutely not. So we improvised.
It’s not 100% perfect, but honestly, neither am I—and I love that. Every little prop in my studio helps tell your family’s story, and I love giving old pieces new life instead of replacing them.
I can’t wait to see this little wagon filled with tiny giggles, little muddy boots, birthday outfits, and lots of sweet memories. 🤍
