Nic White Photography Natural light, on location photographer located in the Pacific Northwest. I become attached to every single image. My job is priceless.

Providing high quality images of newborns, bellies, children and families in the Portland metro area and beyond. The hardest part of being a newborn photographer isn’t the four hours of lifting, moving and convincing a fresh-out-of-the-womb baby to relax his delicate fingers and curl up, all while sitting in front of a heater blowing 80 degrees. And it isn’t ensuring brand new parents that their p

recious cargo is safe in the hands of a total stranger in a house they’ve never been. The most difficult part of newborn photography is culling the images, staring at them for hours on end and not shedding tears of happiness and joy seeing what beauty lies in creating a child. There is something so raw, emotional and real about newborn photography that it becomes difficult to put into words. The ultimate reward is when these cherished newborns return to document their growth. Their eyes are now open and alert to their surroundings, their cooing has now turned to sweet babbles and words that flow endlessly from a smiling little mouth and their features are more prominent which allows viewers to see their growth. The worry of my clients has now turned into excitement as they get to watch their sessions unfold and see photographs of their ever-changing family. My goal as the photographer of your newborn, children and family is to preserve and capture that sense of innocence. I want your pictures to bring back those sweet sounds and smells of your baby. The images will be organic, honest and creative. When you look back at your images years from now, my goal is for you to remember your child as precious and delicate and your family as growing and new. Hi, I am Nicole White of Nic White Photography and I would love to be your family’s photographer!

I know so many mamas who are expecting right now and I just want to say... you are SO CLOSE!!!

I remember being pregnant with Kleven and was struggling towards the end BIG TIME. I was still working in the summer heat, carrying a heavy camera bag, heavy props and walking several miles each session. I was also diabetic and couldn't just eat whenever I was hungry. I had to wait until I was home so I could control my numbers. My body had grown to max capacity, he was VERY active and I was just very tired. Being pregnant during these hot, summer months is BRUTAL.

But remember that this time next year, all of that will go away and you will be wishing you could go back to those sweet moments of it just being you and your baby. You will wish you could feel those little kicks again. I remember crying to my husband one night about how miserable I felt and about how I just wish I could deliver Kleven and call it good. And I remember saying to him that I need to soak it all in because it was my last pregnancy but I was just DONE. I would give the world to feel him kicking again and to remember what it felt like when it truly was just him and I.

So don't let the aches and pains get in the way of enjoying the beautiful moments of pregnancy. You've got this! I promise!

Please stop staring.

We recently took a trip to Leavenworth with our two boys. It was our first trip and likely our only trip of the year. It was a short, two night stay and we had such high hopes that it would be awesome. However, as a mom, I can say that I will never bring my kids back to Leavenworth. It was a lesson learned for me.

My sweet Holland is on the spectrum and is still learning how to talk. He is a runner (or he "elopes" as we say). He also LOVES flags. They are his current obsession. Leavenworth was packed full of people who traveled from out of town. It was also heavily decorated with flags which Holland wanted. We thought that staying Sunday-Tuesday would help us with crowds but it didn't. And the combination of him being on the spectrum, his love for flags, love for running and the large crowds drew a TON of attention our way.

For Holland's safety, there are times where we have to physically pick him up and remove him from areas. Or, he simply doesn't want to leave and we need to. If you know him, you know he is a strong, tall kid and is becoming harder to physically move. There were several times during our trip where we had to physically pick him up and move him. He made quite the scene and because of this, we had SO MANY EYES on us. Imagine a town full of people just watching you as you try to keep your child safe. Imagine fearing being blasted on social media because your child took a small flag. That was our trip in a nutshell. I will say, we did love the swimming pool 😂 It wasn't all bad.

Grown adults were staring. Kids sitting at tables next to us were staring. Everyone was watching us and it was so overwhelming and heartbreaking. I have never cried so much on a trip with my family. As adults, it is our job/YOUR job to look elsewhere, save your judgement and help your kids understand that we are all different.

Teach your kids to say hi to us. Walk into a store if you, as an adult, feel yourself staring. Or better yet, offer to help if you are able. Tell us we are good parents. I think every parent has needed to hear those words when dealing with difficult situations involving their kids in public.

Being on the spectrum isn't a show for everyone to watch and judge. Its a different way of life. But one that is getting a lot of attention right now. So please do not stare at us. We are doing our best to give our kids the lives they deserve. Just as you are doing for your own kids.

This drop dead GORGEOUS mama and her average at best hockey playing husband (😂 jk...he's actually pretty good...better than I am that's for sure) allowed me to capture this sweet session before their FIRST BABY arrives!! I can tell you for free that I didn't look half as good as she does pregnant!

Super grateful for the hockey community here. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be shooting in such BEAUTIFUL locations. I also wouldn't be getting this creative energy out. So a BIG THANK YOU to all of my sweet friends for letting me pick up my camera and allowing me to keep on workin'!

Someone once told me that people are in your life for a reason, season or a lifetime. I have had this family in my life for many years and I super hope that they are a lifetime sort of deal. ❤️

It's kinda funny how I always get a little nervous about working with families that have more than 2 kiddos...but those sessions always end up being favorites of mine.

I think having a bunch of kids goofing off, playing around, making silly faces and coming up with funny poses makes the session super fun. I am ALL about having fun and not taking sessions too seriously. Once you try to force kids to smile and behave, you have ruined every chance at a gallery full of organic smiles and happiness.

I've had the pleasure of working with this family several times now and I have to say...this gallery is the best one to date! Such a FUN group and the kids are definitely the life of the party! Can't wait to see them again!

P.S. To the parents with upcoming sessions...chill out. Let the kids be kids. It'll all be ok as long as you come prepared to let them have fun!

I grew up without a dad.

At a very young age, my birth mom let me know that I had been "adopted" by her husband. I was so incredibly young but felt like I had grown up quickly in that moment. After I was told that I was adopted, my biological father was used as a weapon against me. I was told frequently that I would be "sent to California to live with my dad" if I misbehaved. I didn't even know who he was. Looking back, its wild to think about what I processed at such a young age.

Later in life, my mom divorced her husband and I met my bio dad. It was a really exciting time in my life. It was also very heavy because my family struggled to accept that I had a new family that wanted to get to know me and that I wanted to get to know. I gained new siblings which was SUPER fun for me! I loved them so much and really tried to be present in their lives as their "older sister". But that alone is very complicated. Especially because my siblings were either half or step siblings to me.

Somewhere along the way, my biological father and I had a big falling out and since then, I have not spoken to him. I have been fatherless my whole life and that's ok.

When I get a chance to document kids with their dads, its almost as if a little piece of me is healing. I document what I wish I would have had. I get to document the things I believe every child deserves. A healthy relationship with their father. I love photographing dads hugging their kids with all their might. I love capturing dads holding their little ones hands. Seeing how BIG their hands are amongst tiny little hands is so special. I really, really love being able to document bonds between fathers and their children.

Its not often you meet dads raising their kids on their own. But those dads deserve so much praise. They didn't run when they could have. They didn't pretend like their son or daughter didn't exist. They didn't just move on with life. They took their role seriously and embraced it.

Just like this guy and his son. I feel really grateful to know Zay and his son. He is SUCH a good dad and his son adores him. THIS is what every child deserves.

There are too many favorites from this session that I simply cannot post them all at once!

This family has had at LEAST ten sessions at Edgefield! This last session, I challenged myself to walk every square inch of the grounds to find places we hadn't yet shot at. And let me tell you...I found some gems!

That's the fun in shooting at Edgefield...no matter how many times you have been there for a session, the grounds are ALWAYS changing and never look the same. I remember having to edit out cars from the background of some of these spots. Now, everything is so overgrown and lush that the cars are blocked by beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers.

Anyways...love this family, love Edgefield, love this gallery...love, love, love everything! Can't wait to see what their next gallery looks like!

One of my FAVORITE sessions to edit from my last trip to Oregon! The outfits, the sunsetting in the background and the love this family has for one another other made for the PERFECT evening!

Fun fact - I've been photographing this family for MANY years! I was chosen to capture newborn photos for both kiddos. Dad ended up tattooing photos from those sessions onto his leg. It was a HUGE compliment!

So...who is going to get a photo tattooed next?! 😁

I think, as photographers, we all have that one family that we only see every so often. But deep down, you wish you could see them every year.

This is that family for me.

I have a difficult time telling clients how much I love them when I see them face to face. Typing out my love for them is a bit easier for me. So I hope that they see this and know just how much they mean to me. They have hired me to photograph their family since 2021. I feel so integrated into the fabric of their lives at this point.

Being able to document the kids grow has been so cool! The very first session I had with them was so much fun and this session brought back so many memories of that first session. I have been scrolling through their galleries just to see how much they have changed. While they may look a little more grown up, their love and laughter is still the same as it was many years ago.

The dad in this family...he is something special. I never had a dad growing up and seeing the way he loves his kids and wife is truly dream worthy. I wish every child and partner had someone like him in their lives. He is SO funny, charming and has a personality that fills up the room. Not a serious bone in his body. Just love and laughter!

Mama here is just a bright light in this world. How could you not smile just looking at her!? She radiates positivity and joy. And she loves her kids just as much as dad does. I am pretty sure that I have offered to join their family on several occasions because one would be lucky to be loved so fiercely.

Alright...that's it for now. I am sure I will gush over them some more in a later post. But I will save all of those words and thoughts for another day.
