One of the things I enjoy about food photography is capturing the entire process — from preparation to plating. Recently, I photographed someone preparing healthy dishes, and the details of the ingredients, cooking, and final presentation all help tell the story of the food. Good photography makes you appreciate not just the meal, but the care that goes into creating it. Bonus: I got to work from home that day in my own kitchen.

Lighting design can be one of the trickiest things to photograph. I recently had the opportunity to capture the lighting installation at Kid Clubhouse space for Ovation Audiovisual. Balancing vibrant colors and the mood of the lighting while maintaining the integrity of the space always takes careful attention. One of the best parts of being a commercial photographer in the Dayton / Cincinnati area is seeing how far great images can go.
I recently photographed a project for a local architect, with a strong emphasis on lighting design and architectural details.
Those images caught the attention of a lighting manufacturer, who has now licensed several for their own marketing use.
It’s a great reminder—when your project is photographed intentionally, it doesn’t just get documented… it gets noticed.
