I’ve never been a big fan of activities that could be classified as “daring”. But photography has given me an outlet to really enjoy my friends (and wife) doing daring things. Here’s to hoping 2021 includes less sitting around home and more pictures of friends jumping off things and doing exciting stuff.

2019, Zion National Park. I will always remember how this place felt. I drove to a further out portion of the park and basically had the entire place to myself for sunset, which never happens in a National Park. I sat there watching the sun gradually change the color of the rock, and I felt the quiet all around me. It was such a tangible experience of the way God is glorified in Creation. It felt in that moment, He was saying, “This, this is my glory.” Nature is a great place to experience that.

Do you ever stop and think for a second what a miracle it is that we can perceive such subtle differences of color in nature? Today as your out in the world, stop and notice just how many greens there are around you. And then if you want to get your mind REALLY blown by the color green, go to Olympic National Park.

Some of the strangest lighting conditions I’ve ever come across, from this summer at Glacier. It went from sunny, to hazy, to rainy, to perfectly clear, all in about the span of an hour. Weather is amazing, and Glacier is too.

Community Leader | Ghana | February 2017

I think the most genuine portraits come when the person isn’t posing. It’s become my ethos when taking pictures of people that I never really want them to look at the camera. I love this photo because I forgot that I took it. It’s not one from this trip that defines my memories. But, time has the tendency to create buried gold.

Japanese gym class | Fukushima, Japan | 2019

Currently spending a lot of time overthinking how in the world I represent my work to the world. Constantly coming to grips with the fact that I’ll never be able to perfectly encapsulate my creative work in an easy package. So, I’ll just keep pressing forward doing what I do, posting what I love, and hope that what comes out in the end is an honest representation of the art I feel called to make. @ Japan

I’ve been thinking about places I want to go for the last few months, and for some reason I’m always drawn to figuring out how to go back to places I know and already love. Perpetual tension: Go some place new? Or experience something great again?

I’m going to jump back into posting here, because I’ve got some photos I’m real excited about and what else is this Instagram account for than an outlet for my own excitement?

Here’s the most vibrant rainbow I’ve ever seen in my life. God’s glory showing off in Glacier National Park last night.
