Music Monday

My Dad Jack's birthday is this week. He would be 82 this year. We lost him suddenly at age 60, way too early. We played this at his memorial service. Miss you Dad! 💔

Some of the ways we supported clients and our community this week.

📝PLANNING:
Picked up a collection of 39 camcorder tapes to convert to digital. These are MiniDV type tapes- they generally hold around 30 minutes of video.

Sometimes I get the rare opportunity to help with a special kind of legacy project. This week I received a call from a Mother and Grandmother. She recently lost her son and has been tasked by her granddaughter to create a photo book of his life as a keepsake. I'm looking forward to meeting with her next week, to see if I can use my experience, resources, and skillsets to help preserve his legacy in a meaningful and lasting work of love for his daughter and many after her.💔

📚EDUCATION:

Some of the most meaningful work happens behind the scenes. Here are the highlights of how Tidyology supported clients this week......

📝PLANNING:
Picked up a photo collection of photos for scanning. We scanned several thousand items for this client a year ago and created a Forever.com storage hub for her family. These photos are from her parents' house. We will add them to her Forever.com account, building onto her digital hub.

📼Scheduled a pickup appointment for a 40-tape media conversion project. We're converting them to .mp4's, removing any blank space and snow, and adding title pages to the video for context.

🌟CURATE:
You know those photos we've been scanning the last couple of weeks? This week for that collection, we tagged over 3,000 people and fur babies in over 3,800 photos. This will help with easy and quick searches of key players in the future. We also reviewed several photo discs and loose negatives, adding missing images to the hub.

✨Here's a closer look at some of this week's memory-preserving magic! 🔍

👋🏻RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND EDUCATION:
This week I attended the monthly NAPO St. Louis meetings, which are always educational and revitalizing. This group consists of professional organizers who are members of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals and have chosen to join the St Louis local chapter. Along with organizers, the group consists of other professionals we call Business Partners. Their businesses compliment what we do as organizers, like realtors, interior designers, closet makers, movers, and so many more. This month was the end of the board year, and we celebrated the past year, enjoyed small group discussions, and rang in the new board. I love being part of this group!

🗃PRESERVE:
Empowered a client to create a more organized space for her printed photos with one of my favorite photo boxes. Buying directly from me, she saved compared to the cost of buying it retail.

📸➡💻DIGITIZE:
Scanned over 850 photos, converting them to .jpg digital files.

🌟CURATE:
Removed 110 duplicates from a collection.

📁CONSOLIDATE:
Copied over 30,000 photos on 40 DVDs, preparing to tag important people, places, and dates and create a single hub to access the photos more quickly and efficiently. Created a second backup copy to reduce the risk of losing the data and all the time I've spent.

📀EQUIPMENT:
Purchased a new disc reader, along with a second backup one, to ensure I can always read discs. I receive discs in almost every collection, and for whatever reason, some discs are finicky and might allow one to read it but not another.

Along with personal appointments, networking meetings, and administrative tasks, these are some things Tidyology helped clients move forward this week—one story, one system, one memory at a time.

PLANNING:
Met with a prospective client to discuss converting around 60 video tapes, along with consolidating those into a single hub combined with around 1,000 short videos currently on her phone. Completed and sent her a personalized project estimate for review and approval.

Held a Zoom check in with a client for an in-progress project, to get clarification on a few things, discuss next steps, and ensure accurate tagging of friends and family in the digital files.

Shared details on delivering final project files through the cloud, for a project in which family members are far flung. This would allow everyone access to the files through a link where they can download the files.

DIGITIZATION/MODERNIZATION: Scanned over 700 client photos.

Copied content from 32 discs into a consolidated location, bringing the collection one step closer to a truly consolidated digital hub. ☁️

CURATION: Removed over 100 duplicates from a photo collection.
