We’re brimming with joy to celebrate the announcement that Chasing Summer will be premiering at in January. Horizon was honored to service the camera department rentals on this production in August. Cooke Anamorphic FF+ SF lenses were paired with Alexa Mini LF bodies for stallion cinematographer Eric Branco, a newly-minted ASC member. We were proud to see our little community show out for this feature and produce a stunning result.

Might be a big month for announcements but we’ll start here. There’s been a lot of buzz around these baby Cookes since their announcement and it seemed like the right time to take the plunge. Insanely compact with their mirrorless mounts (we have E and RF currently), these lenses are a great compliment to our full frame Panchro set or as an alternative for lighter and smaller builds. Awesome for the Sony folks and Ronin4D crowd. Not pictured: Duclos custom fronts for 77mm threads and 80mm consistency, custom Innerspace case.

Excited to finish the year with the addition of this rehoused Olympus OM Zuiko set re-engineered by in LA. Collecting and rehousing vintage lenses always comes with a certain level of heartburn, but when they actually arrive home from the process, it’s nothing but glorious. This set has some fun focal lengths, including the coveted 21 and 40mm as well as a 70mm, two macro options, and loads of charm.

Extending the range of the popular rehoused Leica R primes is this Leica R 70-180mm Zoom. Converted for cine use by , the lens now boasts a stainless Pl mount, industry .8 pitched gears for focus/iris/zoom and an 80mm front ring with 77mm threads for lightweight filtration options. Its T3 maximum aperture is right in line with the Elmarit primes, which is impressive given its physical size.

The Atlas Mercury Anamorphic Primes are a pretty new addition to the inventory, but they don’t feel like a “new” lens. and the Atlas crew have made it a point to not engineer away all the charming character of these. The modern housing design and the trendy 1.5x squeeze factor are the only really modern aspects to these lenses. A noticeable field curvature and focus falloff alongside classic amber anamorphic flares make these feel a lot more vintage than they are. Currently available in 36, 42 and 72mm but more focal lengths will be coming later.
