Pure Joy from this last year.
“Joy is an act of resistance”- Toi Derricotte.
The world and especially this country have been feeling quite heavy these days. It can be hard to not let it steal your joy. During this Black History Month, especially in regards to recent events, I felt the need to share this quote by Toi (a talented black female poet). Simply, finding joy in systematic oppression is a radical act. I am not in a place to lecture on the best approach to handle all these continued horrible new stories, acts of violence, oppression, and daily challenges. But I know the people I surround myself are doing the work. Calling reps, protesting, and not remaining still. I will do my best as well.
I feel the need to share that this business will always be one of acceptance. I want my clients to feel safe, seen, valued, respected, cherished , and comfortable when working with me and my team.
here we believe in:
-love
-actively working to stop racism.
^Black Lives Matter.
-immigration. No human is illegal. Especially on stolen land.
-LGBTQIA+
-Women’s Rights - and the right to equality.
-Freedom of religion: I have photographer and will continue to photograph your beliefs or lack there of.
This is a safe place. If you do not align with respecting other humans than this is not the photography business to support. I actively do my best to only work with other vendors who also align with these beliefs. With wedding photography being the business of love, I think truly embracing love is the way to operate. And love doesn’t stem from hate, exclusion, oppression, violence.
In a world of hate, choosing joy and love always.
