Sometimes, ahead of a wedding, I already can feel its impact. I met this duo in the fall of 2025 after their loving friends gifted them an engagement session here in St. Louis. I was told that all I needed to do was be a witness, not really guide. Jessie & Caitlin put together a date of wine and poetry and tarot cards and I was just there to see it unfold. These two arrived, both giddy and tender to each other and eager to spend time celebrating their engagement. I was able to truly be present, floating around and basking in their love.
When Kaplan and Danielle reached out about their Rhode Island wedding, I immediately told myself to not get my hopes up and to not FREAK OUT and scare them off with how much I wanted to be there to see them get married. As luck would have it, I got to be a part of their day, and so I spent the better part of the last year in anticipation of seeing them together again.
June 6th rolled around, an already important date to Kaplan and their family, made even more special by it becoming another anniversary for us all to celebrate. It is so unbelievably energizing and humbling to get to be a part of a wedding that was so intentional and love filled. I rode on a party bus with all of their closest people, I watched peoples faces light up with megawatt smiles and full bodied laughs, I saw tears shed out of pure joy. There is a certain magic these two radiate individually, but it’s something altogether new and precious when they’re together.
I am endlessly grateful to have seen it unfold. A marriage and wedding like this is what I dream of witnessing, what reminds me that the best part of being alive is being in love and being changed by it.
