sarah was one of the paramedics who responded to my friend, jake’s accident at klondike park in 2008. she helped save my friend’s life. she drove me home. she prayed for a miracle. she stayed connected with us. god specifically chose her to be one of the responding paramedics and i’m so thankful for his sovereignty in that.

and. sarah needed a miracle. but her healing didn’t get to come this side of heaven. now there’s two beautiful girls and a husband who are devastated. a first responder family and friends and family who are crushed. i’m no stranger to the story of praying for a miracle and not getting healing this side of heaven. so i know there’s no bow to wrap this up in. all i know is that this sucks. and that god is strong enough to handle our grief and anger and sadness.

sarah will be so missed. she was a light to her family and her community. she chose to continue to save lives by donating her organs. please keep her people in your prayers as we celebrate her life and miss her dearly.

we’re 3 days into 2024 but i have to share some of the photos from one of my last sessions of 2023. when you’re 20 years cancer free, you throw yourself a party with your fave people!

⭐️small business saturday⭐️

feeling like the luckiest girl in the world to have this job and you guys as my clients! being invited into your lives to capture your moments forever is such an honor. thank you for all of your support for the past 13 years. we’ve come a long way since the photo trends of 2010 and $20 sessions 😂 the best is yet to come!

for now, i’m signing off for the next 48 hours or so. our littlest baby boy, bo, is celebrating his first birthday in heaven on monday. we’re celebrating on earth by taking our girls to the polar express! we went to san diego and disneyland for dc’s first birthday. for kohler’s first birthday, we staycationed and did the polar express. bo was the same size as kohler and their birthdays are only 2 weeks apart so the polar express felt right for his birthday too.

so polar express, family time, and fries (my pregnancy craving) are in our future for the next couple of days. we are missing our babes always but this time of year combined with 3 of their birthdays all being within a month of each other, we’re missing them extra hard. thanks for hanging in there while i take care of myself and my fam.

hi friends 👋🏼 vulnerable brain dump coming up…

i started feeling burn out for the fall season in early september. a solid six weeks before i usually do. i found myself wishing for a 9-5 job that i didn’t take work home with me. for those of you who don’t know, we are a foster family and we got our first placement in august. she is the sweetest, sassiest almost 4 year old little girl. we call her “girly” online. she came to live with us the week before school started. before we got the call about girly, i had these grand plans to get caught up on editing, deep clean our house, and put some systems in place for the fall busy season. instead, i was learning how to communicate with our new little love, sneaking in alone time with lucy rae, constantly keeping our girly safe (she is a *risk taker*), trying to get her to sleep, getting set up with wic, preschool, daycare, doctor, etc. we had two *chaotic* weeks at home before we got daycare set up (where she is thriving and is now part time daycare part time preschool) but basically i haven’t caught my breath business wise, since august.

to add to that, 3 of our babies in heaven have birthdays between thanksgiving and new years, so we are feeling all the feels and missing them extra right now.

all that to be said…galleries have been delayed and emails have been delayed or missed. i haven’t been serving my clients well and i am really sorry. i am planning for a few changes in my business starting after the new year when things settle down a bit. some of them will be little things and systems to help me, and some will be bigger adjustments that i’ll announce later. i actually don’t wish for a 9-5 job.i love my job. i love capturing your sweet lives. i love the flexibility that my job offers me while i support my fam. thanks for your patience during this crazy season. thanks for loving our fam. thanks for loving your photos and trusting me with your memories 🫶🏼 now i’m off to get 3 galleries delivered and a print order sent before lucy rae gets off the bus.
