Ran an audit on a handful of HVAC companies in the St. Louis suburbs last week. One company had 61 Google reviews. Their closest competitor in the same zip code had 214. Both have been in business for years. Both do good work.

They are not competing for the same customer. The 3-pack in most of those suburbs starts cutting off around 80 to 120 reviews for HVAC, and the algorithm weighs how recently reviews came in, not just the total number. A company sitting at 61 with nothing coming in for six weeks is invisible to a homeowner searching on a Tuesday in July.

One automated text sent 24 hours after a completed job converts somewhere between 28 and 35 percent. That means if your tech closes four calls a day and nothing gets triggered, you are walking away from at least one review per day. Every day. All summer.

The gap between 61 and 214 did not happen because one company has better service. It happened because one company built a simple habit and the other did not.

Pulled some local map data for pressure washing companies in Edwardsville recently. The ones sitting in the top three spots had one thing in common that stood out more than reviews or anything else. They had 40 or more photos on their Google Business Profile. The companies buried on page two averaged fewer than 10.

Google reads upload activity as a signal that a business is open and operating. It is not complicated. It just requires consistency.

Every Friday, pull three photos off your phone from that week's jobs and upload them directly to your listing. Driveway before and after. A house wash. A deck. Whatever you did that week. Do that for 60 days and the compounding effect on your local ranking is real.

Most guys in the trades have the photos sitting on their phone already. They just never move them anywhere.

Sometimes the first impression happens before someone ever calls you. Thanks for the kind note about our site being informative and professional, even if you’re not a customer.

A clear message online matters because Google uses trust signals to decide who shows up in the map results. That’s why google business profile optimization and google business profile management aren’t just “marketing tasks” they can directly affect how many real calls you get.

When your listing is set up right and your reviews tell the right story, google maps marketing works a lot harder for you. We also keep an eye on reputation management so your best work is what people see first when they’re ready to hire.

If you’d like, send me a message and I’ll run a free GBP ranking audit to show what’s helping and what’s hurting.

If your business is great, why does Google Maps still put you on page two? 📍

Most of the time it’s not your work, it’s your listing. Small issues in Google Business Profile optimization can keep you out of the top 3, even when people in the USA are searching for what you do right now.

Quick wins we look for in Google Business Profile management:
• Wrong or thin services listed
• Weak categories and missing service areas
• Review signals that need steady reputation management ⭐

At JiggleFish Digital Marketing, our local SEO services focus on real results, not jargon. The goal is simple: better google maps marketing so more searches turn into calls and booked jobs.

If you’d like, send a message and I’ll run a free GBP ranking audit and show you what’s helping and what’s hurting. ✅

Ever had a “bad review” that was really about something you couldn’t control, like a glitchy Zoom call? 😬 It happens, but how you respond (and how often it happens) can change how you show up on Google Maps.

For service businesses around Clayton, Kirkwood, Webster Groves, Chesterfield, Ballwin, and out to St. Charles and O’Fallon, Google often rewards profiles that stay active and trusted. That’s why Google Business Profile optimization and smart reputation management matter more than most people think. More trust can mean more calls and more booked jobs.

Here’s what usually moves the needle:
• Google Business Profile management to fix the basics that hold rankings back 📍
• Review management service that helps you spot patterns and respond fast 🧾
• Local SEO services that align your listing with what people actually search 🔎

If you’d like, send a message and I’ll run a free GBP ranking audit and show you what’s helping and what’s hurting.

A towing company owner called me frustrated because his competitor kept showing up first on late-night searches, even though he had been in business longer and had better equipment.

When we looked at his Google Business Profile, his hours showed he closed at 6pm. He runs 24/7. His call button was broken on mobile, which is the only device anyone uses at 2am when their car is in a ditch. And his last review was from 14 months ago, while the competitor had 20-something reviews in the past few weeks all mentioning how fast the driver showed up.

We fixed the hours, got the call button working, and he reached out to recent customers for reviews. That was a Friday afternoon.

By the following week he was getting after-hours calls again. Not because anything changed about his actual service. Because Google could finally see what his business actually was.

Spent the last few years working across a lot of different trades and service categories. Plumbers, roofers, HVAC companies, med spas, dental offices. Different industries, different owners, different markets.

Same pattern every single time.

One or two businesses in each category that quietly show up everywhere on Google. Reviews stacked, photos current, profile filled out the right way. And then a long tail of shops that are just as good, sometimes better, that nobody finds because the profile was set up once and never touched again.

The difference usually isn't the quality of work. It's that somebody showed the first group what the profile actually needed, and nobody ever showed the second group.

Talked to a roofer last week who had been paying a marketing agency for two years. Same package as a med spa they also worked with. Same posting schedule, same keyword strategy, same monthly report.

The roofer books jobs from referrals and Google searches after storms. The med spa books appointments from people who have been thinking about a procedure for six months. Those are completely different buying behaviors. The content, the timing, the search terms, all of it should look different.

Local SEO is not a product you can box up and sell the same way to every business in town. A dentist and a general contractor are not competing for the same customer in the same moment with the same decision process.

When an agency sends you the same deck they showed the guy down the street, that is worth paying attention to.
